ODFL finals game 2

September 10, 2009

Orillia, ON

Game 2 – Tuesday September 8th, 2009 – Veterans Field Rama
Udney Bullets 12 @ Rama Braves 7

After a week off, the ODFL Finals resumed Tuesday night with game 2 in the best of 7 series at Veterans Field in Rama. The Udney Bullets with the 1-0 series lead gave the ball again to pitcher Steve Jacobs to try and stop the potent Rama bats. The Braves turned to veteran lefty chucker Sal Taylor.
The Braves started the scoring early with their first 4 batters of the game scoring. The Bullets cut the lead in the 2nd frame with RBI doubles from Bob Lamb and Mike Hopkins to make it 4-2. In the 4th inning Udney tied the game after Steve Jacobs was Hit-By-Pitch with the bases loaded which where then cleared after a Matt Dykstra whit a bases clearing triple giving the Bullets their first lead of the game 7-4. Mike Harvey padded the lead more in the 5th inning with a 2 RBI double to extend the lead to 9-4. After a Braves Dave Stinson run in the 6th inning, Udney added more insurance in the 7th inning by way of a Bob Lamb Solo shot and a Matt Dykstra 2 RBI single. The Braves now down 12-5 had a big hole to climb out of but this team has been know for the big clutch inning which look hopeful with a Chad Murdoch leadoff solo homer and Darren Snake single but both Justin and Jeff Shilling got out before Pat Masterton hit an RBI double to make it 12-7 which would be the final as Sam Benson Struck out to finish the game.
Udney Bullets now have a 2-0 series lead and look to be in control in games 1 and 2. This is the Udney Bullets first trip to the finals since they won it in 2004 they’ve had good teams during those years and either clinched 1st place in 3 of the last 5 years but couldn’t make it to the show as Brechin and Rama have shut them out since 2004. For Rama to get back in the series they will need to cool off the hot Udney bats that have scored 25 runs in 2 games or  somehow out slug the Bullets. The Braves will look to bounce back Friday night as the series shifts back to Brechin with a 7pm start time.
