Results from the South Perth and BlueWater Leagues...

The South Perth League settled on their champions for the season. The
Sebringville Sting defeated the Wellington Sox 3 - 1 in the "if " game
of the double knockout weekend tournament. Wellington had beaten the
Sting in the first game 2 - 1. The Sting are three-peat champions in
the South Perth League. Todd Uhrig won the Most Valuable Player award
on his pitching and hitting performance for the Sox, Don Scott picked up
the Pitching Award for the Sting...

Wellington took the long way to the championship game....losing their
first game 5 - 1 to the Bridgeport Braves, then starting a string of
victories; 7 to 3 over the KW Cubs, 2 - 1 over Hickson Reds, 5 - 4 over
the Erb Electric Expos, then Sunday morning 7 - 6 over the Waterloo Jr
Twins, and finally in the semi final defeated Shakespeare 7 - 0 in 5
innings. ..

Sebringville ran off wins over Shakespeare 5 - 2, the Expos 8 - 0, the
Kitchener Outlaws 2 - 1 and the Mitchell Juniors 10 - 3....setting up
the two gamer with the Harriston/Elora based Wellington Sox.

Some great ball in this great fastball league. Congratulations to Mary
Beth and Ron Gilbert on heading up a great season ending tournament and
congrats to the Wellington Sox on a gutsy performance against a great
team from Sebringville.

More great fastball must have been played in the Bluewater Fastball
League Championship Tournament. The ISC II Champions, the Port Elgin
Blue Devils were beaten by Elmwood in an 8 - 7 win in extra innings on
Sunday afternoon. Scott Smith was the winning pitcher for Elmwood.
Reports say that Jamie Lang made an outstanding catch at the fence to
save the game.

The Bluewater championship tournament was hosted by the Chepstow Aces.
Chepstow is just up the road from the home office of Harrah's of
Mildmay, the renowned setter of odds in ISC and CASA championship play.

Owen Sound Brick Volkswagen Selects, Saugeen Smoke, Wingham, Tara,
Walkerton and Wiarton rounded out the tournament.

It would have been a great weekend to be in Chepstow, but you can't be
everywhere.

Hope to see many fastball fans in Stratford this weekend for the Ontario
Challenge Cup...
