Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League Championship Finals

After a long courageous battle with pancreatric and liver cancer well known pitcher and at one time in 1979 the top fastball pitcher in the world ,Brad Rienguette passed away peacefuly surrounded by his loving family on Saturday September the 22nd at home . The very emotional funeral services were held this past Thursday September the 24th .He will be missed by many.


2. The league finals have been underway for some two weeks where the beautiful September weather has been fantastic.The Pickerel River Cardinals took the opener 9-6 ;the Dog House Sportsbar North Stars took game 2 6-1 and game three 10-0 . The North Stars defending league champions are now poised to take game 4 and the series 3 games to 1 for their fourth league championship in the last five years .The only other winner in that span was the Pickerel River Cardinals in 2007 .


3. The year end banquet/awards celebration goes on Saturday October the 17th at the Royal Hotel next to the Garson Arena.


4. Good things for fastball in 2010 : once again Sudbury has been awarded the ISC II Northern Qualifier to be held in mid July ;the 5th Annual Brad Rienguette Memorial Open Northern Ontario Fastball Championships for Ladies and Men will be held in mid August;  the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League jumps from 5 teams in 2009 to a strong 7 teams in 2010 and possibly up to 8 or 9 .; ladies fastball absent in Greater Sudbury since 1994 returns in 2010 with a league of 4 and possibly up to 6 teams.5.
