SOFTBALLONTARIO UMPIRES RECEIVE LEVEL IV CERTIFICATION
NORTH YORK,ONTARIO- Softball Ontario is proud to announce the certification of one (1)Softball Ontario Slo-Pitch Umpire and eight (8) Softball Ontario Fast PitchUmpires as Softball Canada Level IV Umpires by Softball Canada and theOfficial Development Committee.
SoftballOntario’s Level IV Slo-Pitch Umpires line up now includes: Sandy Bibeau(Welland, ON) while Softball Ontario’s Level IV Fast Pitch Umpires add: Paul Tanti (Innisfil, ON), Josh Hamilton (Rockwood, ON), Conrad Walpot(Kingston, ON), Alsie Jack (Oshawa, ON), Larry Sloat (Ingersoll, ON),Kevin Beirnes (Guelph, ON), Peter Klein (Thornhill, ON) and Glenn Whitwell(Ancaster, ON) to their roster.
With theaddition of the eleven (9) Level IV Umpires, Softball Ontario is proud to nowfeature a total of one hundred and sixteen (116) Softball Canada Level IVUmpires, making the Softball Ontario Umpire’s Program the most successfulUmpire Program in Canada for developing officials.
Each Umpirewho reaches his or her Level IV certification must meet the followingstandards and criteria as set by Softball Canada:
CertifiedLevel III for a minimum of two (2) years
Has received a successfulevaluation at one (1) events including any of to the following:
Canadian Fast Pitch Championships (FP Midget Level and above)
Canadian Slo-Pitch Championships
Softball Canada approved Provincialtournament has been endorsed by the Provincial Softball Governing Body
SoftballOntario recognizes the hard work and dedication required to receivecertification as a Softball Canada Level IV Umpire, and congratulates each ofthe nine (9) officials who received their Level IV certification in2009. Each official will continue to be a regular feature on softballdiamonds around the province and across the country as rigorous standardsensure that all Level IV Umpires continue to represent the highest quality ofUmpires in Canada.
