Softball Ontario is recruiting for the position of ParticipationProgram Chairperson
NORTH YORK, ONTARIO- TheSoftball Ontario Participation Committee is recruiting for the position ofParticipation Program Chairperson. The Participation Program Chairpersonis a volunteer who works in conjunction with the Participation ProgramCoordinator, and is responsible for representation the Participation Committeeon all matters concerning its programs and initiatives.
The ParticipationCommittee oversees several Softball Ontario programs, including the TrySoftball and Active Softball School Programs, the Get In The Game Symposium,the Community Fun Team, and the Certified Softball Administrator Program(CSAP). The Participation Committee also develops various new initiativesincluding the Softball Association Fundamental Excellence (S.A.F.E.) StarProgram, which is in development and supported by an Ontario TrilliumFoundation grant.

Responsibilities
- Schedule, chair andestablish agenda for meetings in conjunction with the ProgramCoordinator
- Ensure the minutes ofmeetings are recorded and produced
- Have knowledge of andsupport Softball Ontario and related programs and promote the game of softballin general
- Liaise with SoftballAssociations and any other interested organizations
- Assist ProgramCoordinator in preparing information packages and reports
- Prepare or obtainarticles for Softball Ontario’s newsletters and other media
- Communicate withCoaching Chairman on any related activities
- Submit reports to theSoftball Ontario Board of Directors’ meeting and attend all Board Meetings topresent motions, minutes, plans and budgets when required
- Recruit and selectnew members with the Program Coordinator and submit to the Board of Directorsfor approval
- Delegate andfollow-up on tasks to Committee Members with the Program Coordinator to ensurethat all tasks are completed by the specified deadlines
- Ensure planned andactual spending of monies in conjunction with the Program Coordinator areaccurate and judicious (i.e. Committee Budget, Trillium Grant,etc)
- Promote and providebriefings and presentations to groups, Softball Associations, Schools, Parks& Recreation Departments, etc.
- Work with Committeeto schedule and provide Participation Program Initiatives
- To review and revisethe responsibilities of Committee members once a year with the programCoordinator
- Liaise with theProgram Coordinator and to a lesser extend the Executive Director by the mostpractical means (i.e. email, phone, meetings, etc)
- Ensure SoftballOntario Chairman is provided copies of minutes of meetings and is informed ofall activities
- Take part inParticipation Program Community Events (minimum of 1 per year)
- Attend and take anactive role in the Get In The Game Symposium
The position ofParticipation Program Chairperson is appointed for a period of two (2)years.
