SOFTBALL CANADA ANNOUNCES 2009 LEVEL 5 UMPIRES
NORTH YORK,ONTARIO- Softball Ontario is proud to share the certification of a SoftballOntario Fast Pitch Umpire Tim Whitelaw of Kitchener, ON, as he received hisLevel 5 status from Softball Canada and the Official Development Committee. 
With theaddition of Mr. Whitelaw, Softball Ontario is proud to now feature thirty-five(35) Softball Canada Level V Umpires, making the Softball Ontario UmpiresProgram the most successful Umpire Program in Canada for developing officialsto the highest level.
Each Umpire who reaches his or herLevel V certification must meet the following standards and criteria as set bySoftball Canada:
  • has been a Level IV at least 2years 
  • has received a successfulevaluation at two (2) events including any of thefollowing: 
    • Canadian Fast Pitch Championships(excluding Pee Wee and Bantam categories)
    • Canada Games
    • Canada Cup or 3 NationalsChallenge
    • Canadian Slo-PitchChampionships 
  • has been Certified for a minimum of7 years
  • has been endorsed by the ProvincialSoftball Governing Body

SoftballOntario recognizes the hard work and dedication required to receivecertification as a Softball Canada Level V Umpire, and congratulates Tim forreceiving his Level V certification in 2009.  Each of Softball Ontario'sLevel 5's will continue to be a regular feature on softball diamonds aroundthe province, across the country, and around the world, as rigorous standardsensure that all Level V Umpires continue to represent the highest quality ofUmpires in Canada.
