Kitchener/Waterloo, ON
Just wanted you to know that Civitan Sports are claiming that Waterloo Region is the Fastball Capital of Canada for 2009
Our reason for making the claim is:
ISC Men's World Champions - Kitchener Rivershark Twins
Softball Canada's Senior Men's Champions -- Kitchener Rivershark Twins
OASA Senior Men's Champions - Kitchener Rivershark Twins
Softball Canada's Senior Women's Champions - Kitchener Krush
Ontario Senior Women's Champions -- Kitchener Krush
Intercollegiate Women's Champions - Wilfred Laurier University
Softball Canada's Junior Women's Champions - Cambridge Junior Ladies
Ontario Junior Women's - Silver Medallists
Ontario Bantam Girls Champions - Kitchener Klassic Bantams
Softball Canada's Bantam Championship - 4th place finish
Eastern Canadian Novice Girls Champions - Kitchener Klassics
Eastern Canadian Pee Wee Boys Champions - Kitchener Kolts
Also the Waterloo Junior Men's team qualified for and participated in the Softball Canada's Junior Men's tournament in Owen Sound
The summary in brief:
1 World Champion
4 Softball Canada Champions and a 4th place finish -- Represented in 5 tournaments.
3 Ontario Champions and one Silver medal
2 Eastern Canadian Champions
We don't think another community can match that success.
As President of Civitan Sports, I'm pleased to say, except for the Twins and the Junior Men's team we provided finances for all to participate this year.
Just thought we would boast a bit that our game is alive and well in Waterloo Region.
Pete
