NORTH YORK, ONTARIO- Softball Ontario's Umpires Program encourages its Junior Development and Intermediate Umpires to join the best of the best for Softball Canada's 2010 Blue Convention YOUTH CLINIC at the Regina Inn and Conference (Regina, Saskatchewan) on Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Leading this clinic is Bob Stanton of New Brunswick, who is currently the Umpire in Chief of the International Softball Federation. Bob, the former National Director of Umpires for Softball Canada, jumped at the opportunity to lead the clinic.
Also instructing are two Umpires who represented Canada at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Nancy Morrison of New Brunswick and Greg Pipher of Ontario, both experienced instructors who have a special interest in developing youth officials. Finally, we have Mr. Lyle Balogh of Saskatchewan joining them in instructing this clinic. Lyle’s passion is developing younger umpires in Zone 1, and is a true believer in the program. He brings years of experience and a passion which is second to none.
Cost: $50.00
Topics to be covered:
1.    Rules Knowledge: How it will help you out of situations
2.    Basic Mechanics and Positioning
3.    Dealing with the pressure of Umpiring
4.    Setting and Achieving your Goals
The exciting clinic is being put on to give the youth umpire (under 18) the basic tools to be successful on the diamond. These four topics each represent one of the four pillars that a great umpiring career may be built upon.
The program will have two (2) sessions on in the morning and one in the afternoon and will no doubt be inspiring for those in attendance.
