 ISF Legacy Fund - Program Information
The International Softball Federation World Men’s Softball Championships were held in Saskatoon Saskatchewan on July 17th to July 26th 2009.The Event was hosted by the Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association and provided the opportunity for Canada’s Softball World to join in and experience a World Softball Tournament.

The 2009 ISF World Men’s Softball Championship was an overall great success by both the attendance records and also the participation of 1,400 volunteers which resulted in the best World Softball Championship ever.  The 2009 ISF Men’s World Softball Championship Legacy Fund Program in conjunction with the Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association and the 2009 ISF World Men’s Softball Championship Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the success of the 2009 ISF World Men’s Softball Championship has created a $200, 000 Legacy Fund. This was developed to fund infrastructure projects to enhance the game of Softball and provide opportunities for growth within the youth and adult participant categories for many years to come

At the May 26 press conference, three groups that received support through the Legacy Fund for this year were introduced. Lawrence Beatty, President of The Saskatoon Minor Softball League accepted funds on behalf of the SMSL that went to purchase uniforms for all Rookie League teams. These uniforms allow all players in the SMSL’s three youngest divisions to wear their zone colors while on the softball diamond.
Don Bates, Men’s National Team Head Coach and Instructor of the Softball Academy at Tommy Douglas Collegiate, also received funds on behalf of the Academy. The Academy serves students from throughout the city of Saskatoon and the surrounding areas. It combines academics with leadership, softball and coaching skills, for the benefit of the student athletes and the softball community as a whole.

The third recipient of funds for this year was the Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association. The SASA’s facilities are amongst the best in the world. Legacy funds will support diamond and building improvements that will keep them these facilities ‘World Class”.
