With this win, Aurora improves to 17-5 on the season.  This was Aurora’s first weekend with its full ISC pitching staff of Ales Jetmar (12-2), Joe Crouch (2-3), and Jeramie Holman (3-0).  Ironically, 3 of Aurora’s 5 losses this season have been at the hand of their ISC-teammate Holman with scores of 7-5, 3-1 & 1-0.  Aurora’s other two losses include a 3-2 loss to Ray Reynolds and Rockford BAC Pride at a wood-bat exhibition game and a 3-0 loss to the Bar of Appleton—who had only 4 hits off of Joe Crouch to our 3 hits off of Andy Blackshaw during a pitchers’ dual at the Walcott Memorial Day Tournament. Aurora started the season taking 2nd place and an ISC berth at the Dekalb Icebreaker tournament, followed by 1st place at the Rockford Dick Tracy tournament.

The following players have led Aurora's offense so far this summer:
Jarod Gutesha .440 avg, 17 rbi, 4 hr
Dave Perkins .426 avg, 15 rbi, 3 hr
Robert Reder .368 avg, 17 rbi
Adam Perkins .356 avg, 15 rbi, 2 hr
Jim Pecoraro .354 avg, 17 rbi, 5 hr

The Shamrocks are next in action at the Decatur Shootout this Saturday, June 19th.

The Aurora Dolan & Murphy Shamrocks, currently ranked 17th by the International Softball Congress, capped an undefeated (5-0) run through the 14-team Kelso Klassic men’s fastpitch softball tournament with a 13-5, six inning win over the #9 ranked Decatur Pride.

Aurora outscored its opponents 48-15 over the course of five hard-fought games.  The biggest win came early Sunday, in the key game of the three-day, double-elimination event.  After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, Aurora let Decatur back in the game going down by as much as 4 runs at one point.  The Shamrocks rallied back in the 6th to tie the game at 6 apiece.  Aurora finally broke through in the bottom of the ninth with a two-out double by Dave Perkins and walk-off single by Robert Reder to send Decatur to the loser’s bracket final.

Jeramie Holman of Aurora was named the most valuable pitcher of the tournament.  He went 3-0 and was the winner in the championship game.  He worked a total of 16 innings, allowing only three earned runs and 14 hits while striking out 26 and walking two.  Ales Jetmar was equally impressive in his two wins, the most significant being his 9-inning battle vs. Decatur in the winner’s bracket final in which he tallied 15 strikeouts.  Joe Crouch also gave Aurora some solid innings on the mound.
