             SUDBURY NORTH STARS CONTINUE TO PILE ON THE RUN TOTALS
 
                                                               The defending league champs , Sudbury North Stars , picked up their 7th strait win on Thursday night in Garson at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park and in so remained undefeated on top of the standings .It was a 13-3 win over the last place Pickerel River Cardinals who now stand at 1 and 5 . The North Stars have now scored 67 runs to start the season just under 10 runs per game and given up 32 (under 5 per game) .John Ainslie pitched the first 2 innings in collecting his 6th mound victory against no defeats and gave way to Bruce MacDonald in the third frame. In his two innings , Ainslie gave up no hits , no runs and struck out 3 Cardinals . MacDonald gave up 3 runs on 7 hits and did not issue a base on balls. League leading hitter , Steve Sabourin , led the way for the winners with a perfect 3 for 3 at the dish (2 doubles , home run- his third of the present campaign ,run scored , 3 runs batted in ) . Other notable hitters for the North Stars were Jesse St Cyr  2 for 3 (home run ,2 runs scored , 2 runs batted in) ,Lanny Fichette 2 for 2 (double , 2 runs scored) , Chad St Cyr 2 for 2 (home run ,2 runs scored , 2 runs batted in) and Mike Cain 2 for 3 (home run ,2 runs scored , one run batted in ) .Jonathan Contin (1-4) pitched the first four innings and then gave way to Ed Brennan(0-1) . Contin suffered the loss ..Both pitchers combined to give up 12 runs on 14 hits , striking out one North Star batter and not issuing a single walk. Pat Brennan Jr hit 2 for 3 ( home run , run scored , 2 runs batted in ) in a losing cause for the Cardinals.
                                                               In the nightcap under the lights , the Parry Island Hawks got the better of the Garson Hounds , defeating them 9-5 , to move into a two way tie with the Whitefish Lake Steelers at third place. Matty Tobobundung (2-1) went the distance in collecting his second mound victory of the season  giving up 10 hits , striking out 7 Hounds and issuing 2 base on balls . Gary Lamothe (0-1) , in his first full outing of the season , gave up 10 hits ,  struck 10 Hawks and issued base on balls. Walter Sr Tobobundung led the way for the Hawks with a 2 for 3 performance at the bat (home run , two runs scored ,3 runs batted in ) Other strong batters for the Hawks were : Walter Jr Tobobundung (triple , 2 runs scored) and Percy Tobobundung 2 for 3 ( 2 doubles , run scored , 2 runs batted in ) . Todd Parsons hit 3 for 4 ( triple , home run ,2 runs scored , 4 runs batted in ) in a losing cause for Hounds.
                                                               Play resumes on Monday night June the 21st  at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park in Azilda  when the Garson Hounds face the first place  and undefeated Sudbury North Stars for an 8 PM start.
