TWO CLOSE GAMES
In regular season action last Thursday , there was two close games . The Whitefish Lake First Nation Steelers came from behind a six run deficit to tie the game but eventually lose in the bottom of the seventh 7-6 on Gary Lamothe's single. Al Guenette went all the way for the Steelers in suffering the loss on 11 hits , striking out 2 Hounds and issuing one base on balls. Gary Lamothe also went the distance for the Hounds giving up 9 hits , fanning one batter and not issuing a single base on balls. Craig Jacobs and Eric Ace led the way for the Hounds going both 2 for 3 . Todd Parson also hit a solo home run for the winners .. Justin Nootchtai hit 3 for 4 (double , 3 runs scored) and Misadis Rice hit a 2 run run homer in a losing cause for the Steelers .
In the nightcap , the Parry Island Hawks and the Pickerel River Cardinals played to a 3-3 draw . Jonathan Contin went the distance for the Cardinals giving up but 4 hits , striking out 6 batters and issuing 3 base on balls . For the Hawks , Percy Tobobundung and Matt Tobobundung combined to give up 9 hits , fan 8 batters and issue one base on balls . Ed Brennan went 2 for 3 (2 runs batted in ) for the Cardinals while Percy Tobobundung hit 1 for 3 (run scored ,one run batted in ) for the Hawks.
Play resumes tonight in Whitefish Lake for a doubleheader when the Hounds of Garson take on the Steelers of Whitefish at 7 PM followed by the nightcap at 9 PM under the lights when the visiting Hawks of Parry Island face the first place undefeated Sudbury North Stars.
