   SUDBURY NORTH STARS REACH THE HALF POINT UNDEFEATED AT 10 AND 0
 
                                          The Sudbury North Stars seemingly undefeatable in the 2010 season since late May picked up two more convincible victories this week . On Monday evening in a single game played at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park in Azilda , the North Stars easily disposed of the Whitefish Lake First Nation Steelers 9 to 3 ..Brian Kutchke started for the winners giving up but a single run in his three innings of play on three hits while striking out 2 Steelers and not issuing a single base on balls . Bruce MacDonald came in in the fourth inning to mop up two runs on three hits , fanning one batter and not giving up a single walk. Troy Nootchtai in his first outing of the season for the Steelers gave up all 9 runs , 8 earned , struck out 4 North Stars and issued one base on balls. League leading hitter Steve Sabourin led the way for the North Stars going 2 for 3 at the plate (home run , 2 runs scored , 2 runs batted in) .Teammate Jesse St Cyr went a perfect 3 for 3 (triple 3 runs scored ).Justin Nootchtai went a perfect 3 for 3 (triple , 2 runs scored ) in a losing cause for Whitefish.
                                            The North Stars continued their winning ways on Wednesday night in Whitefish . In the opening game the Garson Hounds came from behind a 1-0 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning when for the second game in a row pitcher Gary Lamothe was the hero . With nobody out and the bases loaded , he hit a strong double to right field clearing the bases and giving the Hounds a second come from behind victory this time 3 to 1 . Veteran Doug Foley started for the Hounds giving up but a single run (unearned) on three hits striking out 2 Steelers and not issuing a single walk . Gary Lamothe , the eventual winner in relief took over in the fourth frame facing but 14 batters , giving up 2 hits ,striking out 5 batters and not issuing a single base on balls. Danny Nootchtai went the distance for the Steelers , giving up 3 runs (all earned) ,  5 hits , fanning 2 Hounds and issuing one base on balls .Gary Lamothe led the way for the Hounds going 1 for 2 (double , 3 runs batted in ) . Justin Nootchtai hit 2 for 3 (double , run scored ) in a losing cause for the Steelers.
                                              In the nightcap , the North Stars picked up their 10th strait victory of the season with a 8-1 victory over the Parry Island Hawks. John Ainslie ( now 8-0) went the distance for the league leading North Stars giving up but a single run (earned) on 5 hits  while fanning 6 Hawks and issuing one base on balls.  Matt Tobobundung also went the distance for the Hawks giving up 8 runs (7 earned) on 8 hits .He struck out 9 b atters and issued 4 base on balls. Mike Cain led the way for the winners going a perfect 3 for 3 (double , three runs scored  , 2 runs batted in)  while Walter Jr Tobobundung also hit 3 for 3 (2 doubles , triple) in a losing cause for the Hawks.
                                              League play resumes on Monday night in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park with a doubleheader starting at 7 PM when the North Stars take on the Garson Hounds followed by the nightcap at 9 PM under the lights when the Whitefish Lake Steelers face the Pickerel River Cardinals. Next weekend starting on July 9th , three of our league teams (North Stars ,Stelers,and Hawks ) will be taking part in the Huntsville Fastball Tournament.
