                                         JOHN AINSLIE PICKS UP HIS 9TH MOUND VICTORY
 
                                             The Sudbury North Stars continued in the winning lane on Monday night in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park .The North Stars took a 4-0 lead after one frame then held on for a 8-6 victory over the Garson Hounds .John Ainslie ,the league's top pitcher a(nd still undefeated went the distance giving up 6 runs(all earned) on 10 hits   while striking out two Hounds and issuing 4 base on balls. Gary Lamothe (2-3) also went the distance in suffering his third loss scattering 6 hits , giving up 8 runs (7 earned) , striking out 5 North Stars and issuing 1 base on balls. Lanny Fichette (double , 2 runs scored , 1 RBI) and  Ben Bast (double , run scored) hit 2 for 3 for the North Stars while Eric Ace went 4 for 4 in a losing cause for the Hounds.
                                             In the nightcap the Whitefish Lake Steelers continued their slump  in losing their 7th in a row against the Pickerel River Cardinals. Pickerel took a 6-1 lead into the fourth and then scored 7 more to win going away 13-3.Jonathan Contin (2-4) went all the way in picking up his 2nd victory giving up but 2 runs (one earned) on  3 base hits while fanning 11 (tops in one game this season by a pitcher) and not issuing a single base on balls . Al Guenette ( 0-2) also went the distance in registering his second defeat on giving up 13 runs ( 11 earned) , 16 hits  , striking out 5 batters and issuing 1 base on balls . Alex Ashawasagai led the way for the Cardinals with a perfect 4 for 4 at the dish ( triple , 4 runs scored , one run batted in ) Teammate Ed Brennan hit 3 for 4 (double , 2 triples , 3 runs scored , 1 run batted in ) . Angelo Selarno (double , triple ,run scored ) hit 2 for 3 in losing cause for the Steelers .
                                              League play resumes Wednesday night in Whitefish with a doubleheader starting at 7 PM when the Garson Hounds take on the Pickerel River Cardinals followed at 9 PM under the lights with the Whitefish Steelers facing the Parry Island Hawks.
