                                                                                                      GARSON HOUNDS DEFEAT THE CARDINALS 4-3
 
                                                              The Garson Hounds went to to the top of the seventh inning before defeating the stubborn Cardinals 4-3 . Pickerel River scored their three runs in the middle frames while the Garson Hounds scored singles in the first and 4th frames before pulling out their 8th victory of the season on Todd Parsons two runs batted in double at the top of the seventh . Gary Lamothe (5-4) picked up his fifth win of the season going all the way on a 6 hitter giving up 3 runs (all earned) while striking out 2 batters and issuing 2 base on balls .Jonothan Contin went the distance for the Cardinals (4-6) losing his sixth game on 9 hits , giving up four runs (2 earned) while striking out 6 batters and not issuing a single base on balls . Todd Parsons led the way for the winners going 3 for 4 (double ,2 runs batted in ) at the dish while Mike Aho hit 2 for 3 (double , two runs batted in ) in a losing cause for the Cardinals .
                                                              The second game with the Hawks leading 8-6 (runners on third and second and two outs ) was stopped at that point when the lights went out . No decision was made on the status of the game and will only be made today .
                                                               League play resumes this evening in Garson at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park  went the  Pickerel River Cardinals take on the league leading Sudbury North Stars at 7 PM and that will be followed by the nightcap at 9 PM under the lights when the Parry Island Hawks take on the Garson Hounds

  WHITEFISH LAKE STEELERS UPSET THE SUDBURY NORTH STARS
 
 
                                                 The Sudbury North Stars have hit a mini slump to start the second half of the season .  After going 11-0 to start the season  suddenly the North Stars have lost two in a row . Their latest lost came at the hands of the last place Steelers (2-9-0 ) on Monday night in Azilda . The North Stars led for most of the way but after falling behind 4-3 the Steelers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh with nobody out to win their third victory of the season 6-5 . Veteran Al Guenette(1-2) went all the way in collecting his first mound victory of the season giving up 5 runs (4 were earned) on 6 hits while striking out 2 batters and not issuing a single base on balls. John Ainslie (9-2) also went the distance for the North Stars giving up 6 runs (all earned) on 7 hits while striking out 4 batters an d also not issuing a single base on balls.  Misadis Rice of the Whitefish Steelers led his mates with 2 for 4 performance (home ruin , run scored , 3 runs batted in) while Jesse St Cyr hit 3 for 4 (triple , 2 runs scored) in a losing cause for the North Stars .
                                                 In the nightcap , with only eight players the  second place Garson Hounds (7-5-0) picked up their 7th victory of the season in dumping the Pickerel River Cardinals  9-3 . Gary Lamothe  (4-4) evened his season record at 4 wins and 4 losses going the distance for the Hounds giving up three runs (only one earned) on joist four hits while striking out 6 batters and issuing but one single base on balls . Jonathan Contin(4-5) for the Cardinals also went all the way losing his fifth of the present campaign giving up 9 runs (6 earned) on  8 hits while striking out 6 batters and issuing 2 base on balls .Todd Parsons led the Hounds with a 2 for 3 performance (triple , 2 runs scored )at the plate with teammate Shane  Bene hitting 2 for 4 (double) while Ed Brennan (double) and Pat Brennan Jr(double) both hit 1 for 3 in a losing cause for the Cardinals .
                                                Play now resumes on Wednesday night in Whitefish Lake with a doubleheader  starting at 7 PM when the  Pickerel River Cardinals take on the Garson Hounds followed by nightcap under the lights at 9 PM when the Whitefish Lake Steelers face the Parry Island Hawks .(see attached photos of both the league leading top pitcher(John Ainslie 9-2,3,50  ) and top hitter (Steve Sabourin 708 avrg ,19 runs batted in and a slugging % of 1 478 ) both from the North Stars at this junction of the season)
                                                The 5th Annual Northern Ontario "Brad Rienguette " Ladies and Men's Fastball Championship-The Shamy Shoot Out  is now only a little more than a month away (see attached flyer). The previously scheduled 1ST Annual Nickel Ladies Fastball Cham[Championship that was originally scheduled for this coming weekend has been cancelled .
