ALVINSTON THREE-PEAT'S AT PETE SCHWAB MEMORIAL IN FRANKENMUTH
The Alvinston Indians travelled to Frankenmuth this weekend, for the 15 team Pete Schwab Memorial Fastpitch Tournament. After a loss in their first game to the Rice Creek Lightning, the Indians reeled off six straight wins, including 4 on Sunday, and a win in the championship game against the Rice Creek Lightning, for the third year in a row, and their third straight championship in this tournament..

Alvinston - Chris Drew, Keith Rankin, Ryan Swift, Mark McCallum all had 2 hits a piece.  Ryan Chapman hit a two run homerun for Alvisnton.  Everyone in starting lineup had at least 1 hit.
Munger - Trueminer and Zimmer had 1 hit each.

Alvinston scores 3 in first inning, and then 7 runs in 6th inning.  Game over after 6 innings.
 
Alvinston - Andy Triest was 3/3 with a run scored. Joe Triest was 2/3 with a triple, walk, and a run. Chris Drew was 1/2 with a triple, walk, sac fly, and 2 RBI's.  Keith Rankin was 2/4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI's.  Ryan Swift was 2/4 with 2 RBI's.  Ryan Chapman was 2/4 with a solo homerun, run scored, and 2 RBI's.  Greg Fowler had a pinch hit RBI single.
Columbus - J. McMurphy was 1/2 with a single and a walk.  Weber singled and scored in the first inning.

Duncan scores 2 runs in first.  Alvinston replies with 3 runs in third.  Duncan scores 2 runs in sixth to go ahead by a run, 4-3.  Alvinston replies with 5 runs in the sixth to end any Duncan threat of winning.  Duncan adds one run in seventh.
 
Alvinston - Joe Triest was 2/4 with 2 runs scored.  Chris Drew was 2/3 with a sac bunt and 2 RBI's.  Ryan Swift was 1/4, but clubbed a very important two run homerun.  Scott Smith hit a pinch hit, game tying RBI triple.  Andy Triest was 2/3, with a run scored, and go ahead RBI single.  Steve Donald walked twice and scored twice. 
Duncan - Scott and Miller were both 3/4 for Duncan with a run scored.

Game #6 - Semi Final - Sunday afternoon vs. Mickey's Sleds from Midland, MI

This one was a pitching duel with Doug Gillis for Midland going up against Brad Young for Alvinston.  Game remained scoreless until top of seventh, when Alvinston scored 3 runs.  Gillis left the game in the third inning with two out, when he suffered an injury, and was replaced by Heinlein, who also threw well. 
 
Alvinston - Chris Drew was 2/3 with a walk.  Ryan Swift was 2/3 with a walk, and drove in the second and third runs of the game.  Joe Triest drove in the game winning run, while Andy Triest scored the game winning run. 
 
Mickey's - The DP Davis was 2/3 for Mickey's.  Freed and Harris had the only other 2 hits for Mickey's in the game
 
WP - Shaun Winship - 2 2/3IP, 5 K, 2H, 0 R
Brad Young started- 4 1/3IP, 2H, 3K, 0R
Both pitchers combined for a shutout

Game #7 - Championship Game - Late Sunday Afternoon vs. Rice Creek Lightning

Alvinston scored two in top half of fifth.  Rice Creek replied with three in bottom of fifth.  Alvinston scored two in top of sixth.  Rice Creek put on leadoff hitter in seventh, and then with one out, next batter hit into game ending 4-6-3 double play, to make Alvinston champions of the Pete Schwab Tournament for the third year in a row, against the same opponent, the Rice Creek Lightning. 
 
Alvinston - Ryan Swift was 2/4. Scott Smith was 2/3 with a run scored. Steve Donald was 1/2 with the game tying, and game winning RBI, when he singled in the sixth.  He also had a walk.
 
Rice Creek - Chris Rivard hit a two run homerun for Rice Creek and was 2/3.  Trevor Kelly tripled and scored for Rice Creek.   
 
WP - Shaun Winship in relief of Ryan Swift - 2 1/3 IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 3K
Ryan Swift started - 4 2/3 IP, 4H, 2BB, 2R, 2ER, 5K.
 
Alvinston played 7 games, including 4 on Sunday to win the Championship.  They scored 43 runs for, and 15 against.  Alvinston now has a record of 20-3-1 in tournament play in the 2010 season.
