Niagara Falls playoffs

August 31, 2010

Niagara Falls, ON

Niagara Falls Canada

Hi Al

Niagara Falls began its semi final playoff rounds last night at Ker Park in Niagara Falls, these are games 1 of best of 3 series. The first game saw number 2 seed Tazco facing number 3 Garden City Lizards and this game would be all about Tom Berube as he would go on to throw a no-hitter. The Lizards have been playing well and scoring lots of runs lately which makes Berube's performance all the more impressive. James Atkinson hit a two run homerun in the second and Pat Mcloy would do the same in the sixth. Ron Winger chipped in with a couple hits as well.

Tazco 6
Lizards 0

wp - Tom Berube, 0 hits I bb, 8 k's
lp - Rich Vassos, 7 hits, 3 bb, 5 k's

In the second game, number 1 seed Niagara Fury had all they could handle with number 4 seed Hooligan's Dawgs.
Eventually the Fury behind veteran Butch Provost won 6-5, Jerry Bongers pitched well taking the loss. Bongers led off the game with a homerun. The Fury would answer in B1 when Mark Korten cashed a leadoff Rob Greatrix walk. Rob Diguili scored a Ray Carr single in the B2 but the Dawgs answer with a 3 runs in the fifth on a three run homerun by J J Kesler .
The Fury would tie things up in B4 with a two run homer by Ray Carr that Kesler almost made an amazing catch almost bringing the ball back in park. Both teams would kick it around in the fifth resulting in a run each leading to the B6, squared up at 5 when the Fury's Mark Korten leads off with a single and ends up at second when the fielder bobbles the ball. Pass ball gets him to third and with one out and he scores on another pass ball. Provost would get the Dawgs in order in T7 to close out the win.
