Game one of the best of five finals for the Niagara Falls Men's League between Niagara Fury and Tazco went last night. The Fury would grab the series lead with a 4-2 victory. Scott Wagar gets the call for the Fury, Mike Joseph for Tazco. The Fury grab the lead in the first after a leadoff Rob Greatrix single gets by the Tazco outfielder, Phil John hits a sacrifice fly to cash the first Fury run. Tazco and Fury would each score a run in the third, Will Parent reaches on an error steals a couple bases to manufacture the Tazco run and the Fury's Greatrix single, stolen base and a Tazco error would allow the Fury to take a 2-1 lead into the top of 4. Tazco's Mark Hall homers to tie the game up but the Fury's Wagar would answer with an opposite field shot in the B4 to stake the Fury to a 3-2 lead. The game would remain that way until the B6 when Wagar hits his second homerun of the game for a 4-2 Fury lead. Tazco made some noise in the B7 with back to back singles by Aaron Belding and Pat McLoy but Wagar would escape the mini rally in part by making a nice play up the middle on a Joseph come backer.
The finals will take a one week hiatus as the GHFL playoff tournament at Ker Park is coming up this weekend, the series Game 2 resumes at Ker next Tuesday 7:30 pm (rain date would be Wednesday) with game 3 slated for next Thursday.
