3RD ANNUAL PARRY ISLAND FASTBALL TOURNAMENT
BRACEBRIDGE SURPRISE LAKE SIMCOE
There was only six teams taking part in this edition of the 3rd Annual Parry Island Fastball Tournament but there were plenty of good matches throughout . Here are the final standings and seeding following the round robin section played on Friday and Saturday : 1st at 3-0 Lake Simcoe Lightning , 2nd on least amount of runs given up after 4 innings Parry Island Hawks 2-1 , 3rd same scenario Bracebridge Griffin Pub 2-1 , 4th Whitefish Extreme 2-1 , 5th Loaded Eagles 1-2 and finally sixth at 0-3 Parry Island Juniors . They were then separated into the "A" (top 3 ) and "B" (bottom 3 ) divisions.

Championship games
"B" PARRY ISLAND JUNIORS VS WHITEFISH EXTREME
Behind strong pitching Al Guenette and strong offense , the Extreme score early and often on their way to a 10-3 drubbing of the Juniors . Guenette gives up but 3 runs ( only one was earned) on 5 hits while striking out 3 batters and not issuing a single base on balls . Pete Mackernzie went the distance for the Juniors giving up 10 runs ( 9 were earned) on 17 base hits while striking out 3 and issuing 1 base on balls . Mario Busuttil led the way for the Extreme going 3 for 4 at the plate while Neil Swanson hit a perfect 3 for 3 (double) in a losing cause for the Juniors . Other members of the winning team were : Ed Panamick Sr , Ray House , Glenn Doorington , Earl Contin , Gary House , Jason Fraser , Jamer Contin , Frank Gionet , Elwood Ashawasagai and Clive Wabie .
"A" BRACEBRIDGE GRIFFIN PUB VS LAKE SIMCOE LIGHTNING
In a surprise with Lightning's pitcher Marty Humphries having struck out 45 batters to this point , it was expected that the defending champions would easily defend their 2009 title . Contrary to this belief , it was not the case and in a shocker the Bracebridge boys behind the fine pitching of veteran Ted Conway and their timely hitting against Humpries who did not seem to be at his best came up with an 8-0 victory to grab this year's championship . It was scoreless for two innings then Bracebridge erupted for four runs in the third and added four more in the next two frames to win going away .Only two players reached base for the Lighting on a base hit in the second and a fielding error in the fourth . Conway as we said pitched a one hitter . Marty Humpries took the loss giving up 8 runs (all earned) on 14 hits and his only consolation could be his 5 strike outs to give him 50 in total for the tournament in 4 games . Carey Matthews led all hitters for the Pub with 3 for 4 performance with Curt Dunlop hitting 2 for 3 while John Zeiger got the only hit for the Lightning . The other members of the championship team were : Josh McAdams , Adam Martin , Ryan Lewis , Brad Quinton , Joey Gefucia and Irwin Heshka .The fourth annual Parry Island Fastball Tournament will be held next September 2011 from the 9TH to the 11th . This time around there will be a ladies and masters division . More details on the 2011 championship to come later .

RICK McDONALD MEMORIAL FASTBALL LEAGUE
A] The third game in the best of five league championship between the Sudbury North Stars and the Parry Island Hawks goes this Thursday September the 16th in Garson with a starting time of 8 PM .The North Stars lead the series 2-0
B} The 5th annual all-star classic goes this coming Saturday September the 18th in Massey starting at 1 PM .Starting teams to be announced by Wednesday or Thursday
C] Tentative date for the year end getogether will be on Friday September the 24th at Dog House in Azilda starting at 8 PM .More details by Wednesday .
