The Canadian Masters Fastball Association (CMFA) Executive mistakely reported the incorrect Men's age eligibility in a previous press release. All other eligibility's were correct.

The following is the correct player and age eligibility's with the bold text on the Men's age as corrected;

Player and Pitching Eligibility rules will follow the lead by the Ontario Amateur Softball Association - Constitution and By-Laws. More details will follow but generally speaking to be eligible to play in the 2006 Canadian Masters Fastball Championship the following is required; Men's Master players must be 37 years old in the year of the event and pitchers must be 40 years old in the year of the event. Women's Master pitchers and players must be 35 years old in the year of the event to play. Grand Masters Men's pitchers and players must be 45 years old in the year of the event to play. All Master players are eligible to play both Master Men and Intermediate Men but are not eligible to play for a Senior Men's team at their respective Provincial Championships. Master players may be picked up by any team for an Eastern Canadian or Canadian Championship.

The Executive are meeting today to finalize all details around the 2006 Championship tournament with Men’s Masters, Men's Grand Masters and a Women’s Masters competition being contested at this years tournament.

These details will be released for teams wishing to compete for the Canadian Men's , Womens and Grand Master Championships.

To refesh your memory the following is in place for the Canadain Championships;

1) The tournament is scheduled for August 25-27, 2006 and will be played in Cobourg, Ontario at Legion Fields. From most fastball enthusiasts, Legion Fields is considered one of Canada's finest fastball complexes. For those who do not know, Cobourg is approximately 1 hour from Toronto straight east down HWY 401. Cobourg sits on the edge of Lake Ontario and offers many attractions, entertainment, fine dining and sporting events.

2) Again the tournament will offer Men's Master division, Women's Master division and will be including the Grand Master division for the first time.

3) Player and Pitching Eligibility rules as described above.

4) The tournament format will consist of divisional play with single elimination for the playoff rounds. The format will provide each team a minimum of 4 games and up to a maximum of 6 games.

5) Team eligibility will be sought through your Provincial Championship with priority given to those teams first. If teams are interested in participating from Canada or internationally please contact our CMFA executive for consideration........Contact names at the bottom.

6) Some additional functions we are doing are as follows; team barbecue / a get to know each other session one night of the tournament, 1stand 2nd Team All Canadian tournament awards for all positions, player and team pictures available through Regional Event Photography , excellent souvenirs supplied by Proforma, etc.
