The Avalon Hotel will once again be the host of the 2011 Erie PA tournament, as they were in 2010. They are again offering the $89 per night rate, and I have blocked over 100 rooms for both Friday and Saturday nights. When calling, please reference
"Hillhouse softball tournament" for that discounted rate. Last year, all of the rooms in my block were sold out between teams and fans who came in from out of town. I would suggest anyone wanting to attend reserve their spot early. Believe it or not, Hotels can be difficult to find at times in Erie over the summer as our beaches are quite popular.
So far the teams that have either committed to attend or expressed interest are: Javis, Gremlins, California A's, Chicago/NY, Bakersfield Silverhawks, Albaugh, PA Power, Minnesota Angels, and Ashland Stockpack.
Flights to Erie connect from Cleveland (Continental), Detroit (Delta) and Philadelphia (USAir). Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh airports are all about 2 hours each away which provides another option for those wishing to fly.
I'm hoping BallParkRadio and Al Doran will again be in attendance. ISC level umpires who have interest in working the Erie tournament are welcome to drop me a note!!!!
