Day 2 – Game 1 v Victoria

After missing the first day thanks to the rain we arrived at the ground at 7.15am for an 8am game verses Victoria. Keen to begin our campaign to win the “John Reid Shieldâ€Â for the second year in a row. After more rain delays we finally hit the diamond at 8.45am.

Batting first we had a dream start with Scotty Patterson picking a walk and Mark (Rolfy) Harris bombing over left field giving us 2 runs to start our championship campaign. More runs were to follow as our batters executed a total of 7 well placed singles, which, combined with bombs to Andrew (Nut) Havercroft and Brendon(Lambie) Lamb and some aggressive base running saw our score grow steadily throughout the game. On defence we welcomed Neil (Brooksy) Delpero back to the middle and he showed all the youngins that he is still a force to be reckoned with striking out 12 of the Victorian batters and conceding just the one hit. Well done to our two Rookies who had great first up games.
• Beau Harich turned an important double play with his first defensive touch of the ball and hit a single up the middle to centrefield with his first at bat at the senior level. Great stuff Beau.
• Lambie was bought into the game to pinch hit and did his job and bombed the ball over the right field fence. Well done Lambie.
Final Score 8 – 1 win

Day2- Game 2 v Queensland

After a great first game the boys were keen to keep the roll on and get away to a good start and Scotty started the ball rolling with a left field bomb. In the second dig Beau picked up a walk and Nut smashed a centrefield bullet out, to score Beau and himself. Queensland’s bats finally woke up in the 4th dig and levelled the score. Next dig Jason (Jolly) Garner added to our score with a leftfield bomb and the boys were buzzing. Unfortunately our boy’s bats went to sleep from that point and the Queensland batters woke up big time. Can’t recall much more details about that game.....conveniently......with Queensland running away with the win.

Day2 –Game 3 v ACT

After a slow start our boys got the roll on in the 3rd dig and scored 4 runs through a Scotty double and singles to AB and Beau and some Cocky magic even when Folkard came in to relieve Brad Riley. We defended that score line and showed some really good batting form against one of the best pitchers in the world. ACT managed to only pick up 3 more and Tyson closed the game to record a solid 4-3 win.

Day2 –Game 4 v NSW

The last game of the day saw us against the boys from New South Wales. After a long day the boys, to their credit, were still right in the zone and couldn’t wait to get into it. NSW opened the game with a left field bomb. Brooksy then tightened up his game up and conceded only 1 more hit for the rest of the game. Our boys replyed in their first atbat with a Rolfy left field bomb to even the score sheet. Through the rest of the game our boys showed great discipline in the batters box to pick up 5 walks, 2 singles and a solid triple to that man Scotty Patterson and with some some stolen bases and clever base running built a healthy 8 run tally which was to hard to beat.
Final score 8-1 win

3 wins from 4 games was a great day
