It is with great sadness that I am hear to inform you of the passing of Lorne "Gump" Daer.  Lorne passed away peacefully with his family and close friends by his side yesterday afternoon.  "Gump" lived life to the fullest while playing fastball for many years in Southwestern Ontario.  He is survived by his wife June and two children Laura and Jason.
 
Visitations are Monday April 11 at Mark Jutzi Funeral Home in New Hamburg, Ontario from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with a private funeral for family and close friends on Tuesday April 12.

Daer, Lorne William (Gumper) Passed away on Friday April 8, 2011 after a brief illness with cancer, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener. Lorne resided in New Hamburg and was born 64 years ago in Goderich. He was the son of the late Bert & Dorothy (Vodden) Daer. Beloved husband of June (Yungblut) Daer who he married March 11, 1972. Loving father of Laura & Todd Winkworth of St. Thomas and Jason & Leighann Daer of Baden. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Zach, Avery, Abbigail and Logan. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Isabel & Pete Campbell of Wingham, Ross Daer of Auburn, Ed & Nancy Daer of Wingham, Ken Daer & Janice of Clinton, Laura & Fred Lawrence of Blenheim, Earl & Elke Yungblut, Tom & Henny Yungblut, Louis Yungblut, Ann Legg, Marie Yungblut, Laura & Larry Turvey, George & Carol Yungblut. Also missed by a number nieces, nephews and close friends Cheryl & Steve, Jake and Beck. Lorne was predeceased by his sister-in-law Evelyn Daer. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg for the memorial visitation on Monday April 11, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. A celebration of Lorne’s life will take place on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at the New Hamburg Legion anytime after 6:00 p.m.. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. A special thank you to Cindy from Para Med, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, the 6th floor staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and his friends who helped during his illness.
