            Rice Lake (WI) Orangemen Manager Loren Lathrop was named Wisconsin NAFA 2010 Manager of the Year at the Wisconsin State NAFA Spring Meeting in Hixton WI last weekend.

 

            Loren, affectionately known as “The Fab”, guided the Rice Lake Orangemen to a 24-17 record which included a 2^nd place finish at the NAFA Class AA World Series in Des Moines. The team was also 2^nd at the Wisc State Class AA tournament and 3rd in the State Class A tournament.

 

            Loren’s son, Bryan Lathrop, was named 2010 Wisconsin NAFA Pitcher of the Year. Bryan was the Most Valuable Pitcher in the NAFA Class AA World Series as his Rice Lake Orangemen finished as Runner-up. Bryan was also All-State in the Wisconsin State tournament. Bryan had a 15-10 record, pitching a herculean 174 innings and posted a 2.01 ERA for 2010 (Bryan Lathrop was not permitted to pitch in the State Class A tournament).

 

            Pitcher Bryan Lathrop will be inducted into the NAFA Hall of Fame at this year’s NAFA World Series in Rockford, Illinois.

 

            The Wisconsin NAFA had co-winners for Player of the Year. SS Tim Hall of the Rice Lake Orangemen and SS Rob Kay of Scheid’s Bar and Bar of Appleton Athletics garnered these honors.

 

            All-State Hall batted .349 with 5 HR’s and 16 RBI’s.

 

Rob Kay was All-Tournament in the Rice Lake Invitational and also an All-State selection. Rob batted .410 with 3 HR’s and 28 RBI’s.
