Softball Ontario accepting applications for volunteer positions as Co-Chair of 2013 Blue Convention Organizing Committee

NORTH YORK, ONTARIO – Softball Ontario is now accepting applications for two (2) volunteer positions as Co-Chair of 2013 Blue Convention Organizing Committee.  Successful candidates will have a background in Fast Pitch, Slo-Pitch or both and will play an active role in Softball Canada’s Blue Convention.  The Blue Convention attracts Umpires from across the globe and is an ideal educational opportunity for all umpires.   
As host of the 2013 Blue Convention, Softball Ontario is looking for Co-Chairs who will take on the task chairing all Blue Convention Organizing Committee meetings and overseeing operations in conjunction with committee members as well as Softball Ontario and Softball Canada staff members to ensure assigned tasks are completed by their deadlines. Knowledge and experience in Umpiring (Fast Pitch and/or Slo-Pitch) is a requirement.
Highlights of the responsibilities of the Softball Ontario’s Blue Convention Organizing Co-Chairman include:
  • Minimum of 3 years commitment to the Softball Ontario Umpires Program
  • To schedule, establish an agenda and chair committee meetings
  • To delegate duties as required to committee members and follow up on the completion of these duties
  • To communicate closely with the Guest Speakers, Softball Canada, Softball Ontario Program Coordinator, Softball Ontario Umpires Committee’s and Softball Ontario Board of Directors
  • To determine the 2013 Softball Ontario’s Blue Convention budget (with assistance of committee members and Softball Ontario staff) and Softball Ontario Umpire Committee’s
  • To submit reports to the Softball Ontario Umpire Committee’s for the Softball Ontario Board of Directors’ meetings in January and October
  • To assist in writing reports for Softball Canada providing the necessary information data about the program

All interested candidates are asked to apply in writing, expressing their interest along with a detailed resume outlining your softball, Umpiring and professional background and qualifications for this position(s). Applications should be sent no later than June 3, 2011.
In the coming weeks the Softball Ontario Umpires Committees will collect and evaluate all applications, and choose candidates for approval by the Softball Ontario Board of Directors. Softball Ontario is confident that 2013 Blue Convention will be a huge success and will produce future Umpires of tomorrow.
