Ken Vierling - Update

We are very saddened about the most recent update from Ken Vierling's family below.
Please keep Ken in your prayers in his final days with us. Tuesday, June 7th, 2011 6:06 PM Hello all, Well Ken is not doing well. We have talked with the doctors and the care team and have decided to do "comfort care". That means that Ken will be kept comfortable with no resuscitation. His medications will be stopped as well. He is not eating or drinking now and will not open his mouth for oral medication. He is on an IV medication to keep his blood pressure up so we have decided not to stop that today. We want to give those who want to say good-bye to a dear friend the chance to do so. Ken has put up a good fight but he really wants that Captain diet and to have a beer with dad. We know that this is hard but feel that this is what Ken would want. He was so full of life and to see him like this is absolutely heart-breaking but we have talked with Ken and had the hard conversations with him. He is tired and just wants to go. It is really hard for us but we cannot be selfish and not think of Ken's wishes. So if you want to go and say "see ya later dear friend" please do so soon. Maybe Ken will be able to celebrate his birthday with dad! Thanks to all of those that have been there for Ken and for all the thoughts and prayers that have come his way.
