July 7-9
Denmark, WI

The Circle Tap team had yet another up and down weekend enroute to a 2-2
mark(14-13 overall). The weather turned out to be very nice all weekend
with the exception of a few sprinkles on Saturday which did not interrupt
any of the play. Sunday was in the low 90's.

Game 1
6PM Friday
#13Circle Tap 1 #28Dolan & Murphy 2(Aurora, IL) 9innings
CT 1 7 1
DM 2 4 0
The Tappers let a couple of opportunities slip away in this one and it
cost them the game. Kyle Magnusson led off the 4th with a double and then
D&M pitcher Juan Pottoluccio struck out the next 3 men to leave him
stranded. CT would get on the board in the 5th as Kevin Reichardt led off
with a walk, moved to 2nd on a passed ball and would later score with two
outs on a Darren Derricks double. Magnusson led off the 6th with another
double and again would be stranded. CT pitcher Matt Bramwell took a
no-hitter, one walk, performance into the bottom of the 7th when Andrew
Havercroft led off with a solo shot over the center field fence. CT left
the bases loaded in the 9th. With the tie-breaker in place Dolan 2 hitter
Havercroft was intentionally walked and then Luis Saldana hit on to the
fence in right scoring the run. Magnusson finished 3x4 2-2B

Game 2
5PM Saturday
#13 Circle Tap 3 #18 Quad City Sox(Davenport, IA) 2
QC 2 6 0
CT 3 6 0
After the Friday night loss put us in a hole this was a must win situation
for us. Quad City would go up 1-0 in the top of the 3rd as Bill Kranz
picked up a one out base hit followed by a Daryn Miller and Rodney Doak
base it. Kranz eventually scored on a wild pitch. CT would answer in the
bottom half as Kyle Magnusson and Chris Delarwelle hit back to back homers
to take a 2-1 lead. The Sox would even the game in the 4th on a solo shot
by Tommy Botkins. CT would go ahead to stay in the bottom of the 6th as
Delarwelle hit a one out triple and would later score with two outs on a
Mike Roberts RBI single. Magnusson 2x3 HR, Delarwelle 2x3 2B, HR

Game 3
7PM Saturday
#13 Circle Tap 1 #3 Orillia Riversharks(Orillia, ON) 0
CT 1 5 0
OR 0 4 0
This game had many playoff implications. If Orillia wins they win pool C
and there would be a three-way 1-2 tie for the 2nd playoff team breaking
down into the tie-breakers. CT wins they get the one seed as both teams
go 2-1 and wins the head to head tie-breaker. Fortunately for CT the
latter of the two happend.
Kyle Magnusson continued to shine as he hit a one out first inning blast
in the right center power alley. CT would dodge a bullet in the 4th a
couple of times. Starting pitcher Mike Roberts took a rocket off the top
of the head on a line drive by Rhys Casley. He would get up and pitch to
the next batter Stacey McLean who hit one to the fence, Casley trying to
score would be tagged out on a 8-6-2-4-2-5-3 put out to end the inning.
Matt Bramwell would come on to pitch in the 5th and record 7 outs in a row
before yielding a walk to Casley, McLean then hit into a fielder's choice,
Sean O'Brien picked up a two out hit, but Bramwell got Derrick Zeckman to
fly out and end the game. Don Garvey 2x3, Reichardt 3B

Game 4
10AM Sunday-Quarter Finals C1(CT) vs D2(MinnDak)
#13 Circle Tap 5 #20 MinnDak Millers(Moorhead, MN) 6
CT 5 6 2
MM 6 9 0
This game started off rough for all in the CT camp. MinnDak lead off man
Lucas Goring led off with a base hit followed by a Greg Cascaes walk, John
Tschida sacrificed the runners over, with two outs a dropped fly ball
allowed a couple runs to score as well as a pair after. We dug ourselves
in a deep 4-0 hole against a hot pitcher in Schweyer. CT made a comeback
in the 6th as Chris Delarwelle drew a one out walk and Don Garvey hit a
two run blast to make it 4-2. In the top of the 7th, Darren Derricks
picked up a one out single followed by a Jess Ellestad base hit.
Magnusson reached on a fielder's choice as the 2nd baseman made a diving
play on a ground ball and got the out at 2nd. Delarwelle drew another
walk and then Don Garvey delivered a huge 3 run triple to give the Tappers
a 5-4 lead. It would not hold up as Lucas Goring led off the bottom of
the 2nd with a base hit followed by a Cascaes base hit a wild pitch later
and John Tschida knocked them both in as the incoming ball from the
outfield bounced around the backstop. Don Garvey 2x3 HR, 3B 5RBI Tom
Crouch 2x3

Hopefully all had fun at this year's Boys of Summer Open. It was a heck
of a lot of fun to see all the work put forth by everyone involved come
together and hear all of the wonderful comments about the field of teams
and facility. If you have any comments on the tourney I'd love to hear
from you, a full wrap and credits will be put together in the next couple
days. Next action for CT will be in Fargo, ND for the Holm Classic
July 15-16
