RICK McDONALD MEMORIAL FASTBALL LEAGUE
 
                                                                                                      SWICK HOUNDS ESCAPE THE BASEMENT
 
                                         The Swick Hounds of Garson starving for runs and wins finally came up with their second win of the season (against the same opponent ) and took over third position . The Hounds scored a quick four runs in the opening frame and were then off to the races . The Whitefish Lake First Nation Falcons made it close for one inning scoring four runs but the Hounds shut them down afterwards scoring another seven runs winning going away 11 to 4 . Bruce MacDonald (1-0) veteran and in his first mound start of the season  went the distance scattering 8 hits all in the first two innings than stop the Falcons the rest of the way as he fanned three batters and issued but one single base on balls . Danny Nootchtai (1-3) started and was tagged with loss before being relieved in the 4th by Troy Nootchtai (1-4) .Both pitchers combined to give up 13 hits , strike out 3 batters and 3 base on balls . League leading top hitter of the Hounds , Corey “Pooch” Farmer led the offensive charge going a perfect 2 for 2 (both doubles) and two walks with teammates Bruce MacDonald 3 for 4 ,Eric Legendre 2 for 3 (both doubles) ,Mat Behne 2 for 3 and Sylvain Ouellette 2 for 3 (double) also helping out the offensive cause while Troy Nootchtai hit 2 for 3 in a losing cause for the Falcons .
                                           In the nightcap under the lights , the Sudbury North Stars ran their perfect record to 8 and 0 with a  trouncing of the Pickerel River Cardinals 9 to 2 . Rookie Brad Matheson(1-0) who hails from Elliot Lake got his first start of the season going the distance as he scattered 8 hits , struck out  3 batters and issued but one single base on balls . Jonathan Contin (4-2) went all the way suffering his second loss of the present campaign . He gave up 12 hits , fanned 6 batters and did not issue a single base on balls . Ben Bast led the way for the North Stars going 2 for 3 (two run home run ) with teammates Brad Matheson 2 for 3 ,Jesse St Cyr 2 for 3 (double , triple) and Terry Kutchke 2 for 3 (double) helping out while Jonathan Contin hit a perfect 3 for 3 in a losing cause for the Cardinals .
 
Play resumes in Whitefish Lake on Wednesday night with a single game at 7 PM  when host Whitefish Lake First Nation Falcons take on the Pickerel River Cardinals .
