For the fourth time in the past five years, the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League's Commissioner' Cup is heading the way of the Sudbury North Stars.

The former "Sudbury Dog House Sports Bar and Grill North Stars" have absolutely dominated the league this year, suffering just one loss to date. With plenty of cushion to spare, the North Stars left little to chance, scoring 10 runs in the first two innings and trouncing the slumping Pickerel River Cardinals 13-3.

John Ainslie (10-1) pitched the first two innings for Sudbury, but with the game well in hand, gave way to reliever Brad Matheson, who looked even more impressive. The rookie faced the bare minimum nine batters over three innings, causing the game to be called after five innings based on the league mercy rule.

With an impressive 17-hit attack, the North Stars were a force from top to bottom of the lineup: Joel Belanger - 3/3 with a home run; Moe Coutu - 2/2 with a two run home run; Lanny Fichtette - 2/3 with a double; Jesse St Cyr - 2/3 with a two run home run; Mike Cain - 2/3 and Curtis Hambley - 2/3 with two run home run.

Ed Panamick Jr smashed a three-run blast in a losing cause for the Cardinals. League play resumes on Monday night at the Rick McDonald Memorial Park in Azilda when the suddenly streaking Swick Hounds of Garson take on the North Stars at 7:00 p.m.
As well, the 6th Annual Brad Rienguette/Shamou Shoot Out - Northern Ontario Fastball Championship is now roughly six weeks away, with teams reminded to send in their entries.
