July 29 to July 31
New Dundee, Ontario
Doug Fischer Memorial Park

New Dundee to host the Ontario intermediate and senior fastpitch
championships this weekend.

This weekend, as every Civic Holiday weekend in Ontario, the Ontario
Amatuer Softball Association is hosting the Ontario men's fastpitch
championships. This year the event will take place in New Dundee, at
Doug Fischer Memorial Park.

Seven teams are competing for the OASA championships, the KW Cubs,
Kitchener Outlaws, and Wellington Sox from the local South Perth
Fastball league. Harwood Corners from the Tri-county league,
Palermo/Hammer from the Golden Horseshoe, plus the Toronto Gators, and
the defending champs the Force from Cobourg.

In the senior elimination championship there are three clubs, the
Hallman Twins, Port Elgin Blue Devils, and the Owen Sound Verge Selects.

Owen Sound is the host club late this August for the Canadian Senior
Fastball Championships. The Twins are hoping to return as defending
Canadian champs to the senior Canadians and Port Elgin is taking
advantage of their proximity to Owen Sound to field a senior ball club
this summer.

The Hallman Twins were put together late this June when it became
apparant that many of the Twins players from the past two championship
seasons would be able to play in Canadians. Dave Bailey, Doug Eidt and
Jim Hallman were able to put together a team to play in the OASAs and to
qualify for the Canadians.

Games begin on Friday night July 29th, Cubs vs Harwood Corners, Cobourg
vs the Outlaws and the Sox up against Palermo/Hammer. Toronto Gators
open up on Saturday morning.

The Selects, Twins and Blue Devils play all their games on Saturday
beginning at 11 am.

Championships for the intermediate's will be on Sunday.

New Dundee is located west of Kitchener, and Doug Fischer Park is at
1028 Queen St (Region of Waterloo Road 12) near the intersection of
