NORTH YORK, ON - Softball Ontario’s Provincial Umpires-in-Chief Jack Van Bynen and Peter Kluszczynski want to remind you that it is your last chance to register and card with the Softball Ontario Umpires Program. Please make note of the important deadlines for Ontario’s Umpires:

Umpire Registration Application Deadline
  • August 31, 2011 is the final deadline for all Umpire Registration Applications for Fast Pitch and Slo-Pitch to be received at the Softball Ontario Office
Umpire Carding* Deadlines
  • August 31, 2011 – Final deadline for all Fast Pitch and Slo-Pitch Umpire exams to be received by the Softball Ontario office
Softball Ontario's Slo-Pitch Provincial Umpire-in-Chief, Jack Van Bynen encourages all Umpires in Ontario to act before the deadline: "Once you register and card with Softball Ontario you become a member of the best Umpires Program in Canada where the opportunities and services are second to none. I cannot stress enough by registering and carding with Softball Ontario you provide yourself with the two important pieces of equipment: accident and liability insurance coverage and testing your knowledge of the rules by reading the Softball Canada Rule Book and completing the Softball Canada National Umpire Exam". While Softball Ontario's Fast Pitch Provincial Umpire-in-Chief, Peter Kluszczynski adds: "It is important that all Softball Ontario Umpires who would like to attend a Provincial or Canadian Championship(s) for the 2010 Softball season become a member of Softball Ontario and complete their exams for the August 31, 2009 deadline. I am proud to be a Softball Ontario registered and carded Umpire and encourage all Umpires in Ontario who have not registered by this date or completed their exam to do just the same".
Registration forms are available online at www.softballontario.ca! For more information, contact Steph Sutton at ssutton@softballontario.ca or by calling 416-426-7150 ..
* Please note the term ‘Carding’ or ‘Carded’ refers to an Umpire who has written the Softball Canada National Umpire Exam. Once a successful mark is achieved depending on the level of the Umpire, a Softball Ontario/Softball Canada Umpire Card is issued. An Umpire cannot be considered ‘Carded’ until he or she has successfully completed the Softball Canada National Umpire Exam.
