To All Our Fastball Friends,

Our fastball friend, Steve Bedard is in the Intensive Care Unit of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Steve is in serious condition and battling complications from a surgery he had a few weeks ago. Most of the fastball community would know Steve from his umpiring days at the Worlds, OASA's, Canadians as well as many other tournaments and league play.

Steve, a fastball lifer and a champion of our sport needs all of our prayers and thoughts as he tries to fight this battle.

Come on Steve the ball game is not over!

Update on Steve Bedard's Condition

Thursday, August 04, 2011

Update on Steve Bedard's Condition,

In speaking with Steve's daughter Julie this evening, Steve had surgery this afternoon to further address the complications of his previous surgery a few weeks ago. Steve has now been transferred to the Surgical Critical Care Unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre where he is in critical condition.

According to Julie, the next 24 to 72 hours are critical for Steve's recovery.

The family has requested that there are no attempts for visitation at this time.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to Steve and his family in this time of need.

Further Update on Steve Bedard's Condition,

Steve is now in stable condition of the Surgical Critical Care Unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Again in speaking with Steve's daughter Julie late last evening, Steve is continuing to make progress. If things continue to improve Steve is expected to be transferred back to the Belleville General Hospital to the Intensive Care Unit sometime mid week.

The family is still requesting while Steve is at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre that he receives no visitors.  Once Steve is back in the Belleville General Hospital the family would welcome any visitors for Steve.

I will provide updates on Steve's continuous road to recovery as I receive them. Thanks.

Further Update on Steve Bedard's Condition,

Steve is still in the Surgical Constant Care Unit at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre though doing much better. I had the opportunity of visiting with Steve in hospital on Wednesday evening, Aug 10, 2011 for a hour or so. In speaking with Steve he indicated the doctors have told him if he continues to improve he will probably be sent home on Monday or Tuesday of next week with home care. Home for Steve while he recovery's will be with his family in Belleville, ON. Even Steve admits it will be a long road back but there certainly is much more optimism on his future today compared to last week.
