ASA National Fastpitch Tournament - 23U

North Mankato, MN

First game results of the 23 and under.  The tournament is being held in North Mankato, MN at Caswell Park.
Frankenmuth Driving School won their first game at 8:00 A.M. Saturday morning.  The Drivers defeated Duluth, MN Stadium Lanes six to one.  Maryville, MO. New Implement defeated Hennager Plumbing, Lake Cryatal, MN four to nothing.  Hartford Explosion of Hartford SD defeated Hollywood Sports, of Hollywood , MN.  Gillies, from Midland, MI defeated LX Fastpitch, from Onalaska, WI 8-7 in nine innings.

Michael Cantrell threw a 4 hitter striking out 8 while leading Frankenmuth Driving School to a 6-1 win over Stadium Lanes.  Jonathon Labuhn was 3 for 4and scored two runs.  Jared Stewart was 1 for 1, a base on balls, two sacrifices a two run home run and 3 rbis.  Jacob Bouvy was 2 for 2 and hit by a pitch, scoring a run.  No one had two hits for Duluth.
 
Second round games in the winners bracket feature Frankenmuth against Maryville and Midland against Hartford.
 
In the 18 and under, Reese MI Bulldogs defeated Parnell, MO Schmitz Farms 8-4.  Richville, MI lost 10-0 to Schmitz.  Richville is one of two 16 and under teams playing in the 8 team ASA National.
 
Winning pitcher for Reese was Anthony Aresco, with relief help from Kyle Ackerman, who pitched the last two innings.  Casey Squanda led the hitting for the Bulldogs with 2 for 4, 2 triples.  Zach Lach was 2 for 3 and a base on balls.
 
Reese will be playing Siouxland Forklift, from Sioux Fall, SD.  Richville will be playing the other 16 and under team in the tournament, Schmitz Farms of MO.

Siouxland SD and Hennager MN play in final undefeated game at 9:45 A.M.. Sunday

Frankenmuth Driving School finished fourth at the under 23 ASA tournament in North Mankato, MN over the weekend.
The final three teams were Hartford SD and Lacrosse WI battling to face NW Implement of MO,
 
Frankenmuth defeated Duluth, MN 6-1, lost Saturday night to NW Implement 8-1, and came back Sunday morning to defeat Hollywood, WI 8-1.  Frankenmuth was eliminated in the quarterfinal game 6-3, losing to Lacrosse, WI.
 
Jon Gwizdala pitched a 2 hitter and struck out 13 batters is six innings of work in the win over Hollywood.  Gwizdala was 2 for 3 including a home run in the game.  Jacob Bouvy was also 2 for 3.   Andrew Mendyk crushed a grand slam home run in the secon inning to lead the way for Frankenmuth.
 
Frankenmuth and Lacrosse were tied at two when Lacrosse scored three runs to take the lead and they were never headed.
Will Tack was 2 for 3, had two rbi's and a triple for Frankenmuth.  Jon Gwizdala was also 2 for 3 and hit his second home run on the day.
 
Leading hitters in the tournament for FDS were Jacob Bouvy with 4-9, .444, Jon Gwizdala 5-12, .417, Will Tack 4-10, .400 and Jonathon Labuhn 4-12, .333.
