TOM CLANCY

Tom Clancy, forwarded a note from Keri Ryan asking for volunteers to
assist with the upcoming Rookie Ball tournament.... Rookie ball is
played with a pitching machine, the games will be played at Peter
Hallman, SW Optimists, ( I have a story about that park) Wilson Ave,
Rosenburg and Budd. Those venues are familiar to many of you. Keri
mentions that she will need convenors (game controllers), scorers,
announcers and scoreboard operators, with emphasis on the first two....

Give Keri a call at 519 578 6477 keri.ryan@PIB.com or Tom Clancy at
candtclancy@rogers.com

The story about the SW Optimists Park...I was helping my daughter's
teacher with Emily's grade 8 softball team...We were to play at SW
Optimists park, I drove 5 girls to the park..read the schedule, Our
Lady of Lourdes plays on Diam 3, home team, vs Holy Rosary...Went to
Diamond 3, set up on the bench, got the girls warming up, and along
comes the convenor...with these huge bristol boards with numbers 1 2 and
3 on them...and covers the nice City of Kitchener diamond
numbers....puts #1 over top of #3, puts #2 over top of # 2 and puts #3
over top of #1....We move back to Diamond 1 which is now Diam #3...so
does Holy Rosary, and so do 2 other teams...I forwarded her name to Roy
Stout for a ISC Game Control position.

UNDER 23 OASA Classification for Junior Men

George Ryder is proposing an amendment to the OASA at their Annual
General Meeting set for November. Al Staats has been working hard
to build support to continue with the under 23 age group for junior
men fastpitch. The OASA is being asked to approve that the under 23
classification as well as continue along with the under21 grouping.
The CASA has moved to the younger classification across the country.
Ontario will continue to send a junior under 21 team to the nationals
and declare an under 23 as well. George is looking for support for
this amendment...
