THE PICKEREL RIVER CARDINALS EXTINGUISH THE SUDBURY NORTH STARS

We now have a series as the Cardinals with all guns blazing came out firing on Wednesday night in Whitefish Lake . The game was only close for the first two innings but then everything broke out loose in the bottom of the third frame as Pickerel exploded for 5 runs taking a 7-4 lead into the fifth inning before adding four more runs in blasting their rivals 10-4 and tie the best of five league finals at a game a piece . The North Stars not really in their game committed no less than 8 fielding errors contributing to their lopsided loss . Jonathan Contin  (3-1) went the distance in facing 27 batters in his seven innings of work in collecting his 3rd win of the playoffs . Contin paced himself well in scattering 4 hits , striking out 6  and  not issuing a single base on balls . John Ainslie (4-2)  struggling at times went the distance in losing his second . Ainslie gave up 7 hits , fan 4 batters  and issued one single base on balls (an intentional walk in the sixth ) –errors committed by his infielders did certainly not help his cause . Percy Tobobundung (double , triple) and Craig Brown(double , triple) led the way for the Cardinals both going 2 for 3 at the dish while Mike Greslow and Jesse St Cyr hit 1 for 3 (both solo home runs ) in a losing cause for the North Stars . It now becomes a best of 3 affair as game three goes on Thursday night in Garson at the Lorne Brady Park set for 9 PM –it will be a key game as both teams want to take that important one game lead in the series . There will also now be a game four scheduled for Wednesday September the  7th in Whitefish Lake at 9 PM . All team reps are reminded to turn in their voting ballots on Thursday night September the 1st . For the Falcons and the Hounds turn it in by email ..

Lots of fastball left as September arrives ! Keep fit ! See you on the fastball diamonds !
