This Week in Fastball - Shakespeare wins South Perth- ISC Qualifier this weekend....Sept 14th

The South Perth Champs for 2011...Shakespeare Falcons...

The Falcons with a 12 - 10  league record,  6th in league play behind Wellington, Elmira, the Outlaws, Hickson Reds and the Cubs,  captured this years  South Perth Fastball League championship with a string of 5 wins..no losses, outscoring the opposition....35 runs scored to 6 against

They opened the weekend with a 11 - 1 win over the Linwood Juniors on  Friday nite...then met and defeated the Wellington Sox, 9 - 2 on Saturday morning.  The Sox led the league post to post..with  a record of 20 - 2.  Another tough team the KW Cubs, a team with a record of 13 - 9 and lots of success  this year including the Great Lakes Ontario Championships...The Falcons won this match up 8 - 1.  Sunday morning and the second place Elmira Expo the winner to the championship  game....and another win..this time 4 - 1 for the Falcons....

Elmira then faced the pennant winners, Wellington Sox.  The winner to meet the Falcons in the title game...The Sox won, 8 - 7 and the rematch of the  Saturday noon game...Sox vs Falcons...and again the Shakespeare Falcons were victorious this time 3 - 1

and Jodie Schnarr..missing, and sporting 11 stitches from a ricochet foul to the eyebrow....Scott McTavish.

The Wellington Sox, 2nd place finish, included a 6 - 5 win over the KW Cubs, and 11 - 1 over the Kitchener Outlaws, 7 - 0 over the Hickson Reds,

KW Cubs went 2 and 2 in the tournament...wins over Mitchell Mets 8 - 7,  Hickson Reds  2 - 0, the 6 -5 loss to the Sox, and the 8 - 1 loss to the Falcons.

Sebringville opened up with a win over Breslau a tight game, 4 - 3,  then lost to  the Expos 4 - 0, another tight game and a win over Linwood  Chiefs 11- 10
followed by a 8 - 7 loss to the Mitchell Mets...

The Mets opened with a 10 - 3 win over the Mitchell Royals, then lost to the Kitchener Outlaws 12 - 5, a close win over the Tavistock Jrs..6 - 5...

Some other scores...Hickson  Reds defeated the Tavistock Jrs...4 - 1, Mitchell Royals 3 - 2,

Congratulation to the Falcons....a lot of great ball  games this summer....

ISC "Laverne Reichert" Ontario Challenge  Cup Trophy

This weekend New Dundee  will be the host for the ISC Qualifier, the winner getting a berth to Midland Mich next August..

14 teams will  be in this tournament...the opening draw is as follows

Mitchell Mets meet Orangeville Kings, Elmira Expos meet the St. Thomas Storm, 7pm in New Dundee,

 the Waterloo Cardinals vs  Harwood Corners meet at Budd Park in Kitchener also at 7pm

At 9pm at Budd, Wiarton Nationals vs Mississauga Sox, and in New Dundee at 9pm..the host club Kitchener Selects, and Orillia meet, and the Wellington Sox and Fisherville A's round out the games at Doug Fischer Memorial Park

Saturday morning the Alvinston Indians and Vasey Countrymen open their  tournament games at 9 am..each  vs earlier winners.  Alvinston replaced the Napanee team.

Beer tent, and the Village Caterer...27 fastball games...a great end to a great summer of fastpitch...
