2012 and 2013 All Star Classic Extravaganzas

ALL STAR CLASSIC EXTRAVAGANZA| FOR 2012 AND 2013
The dates for the 2012 and 2013 All Star Classic Extravaganzas have now been established as of this evening in conversation with my co-chair out of the North Shore and specifically Elliot Lake , Delene Armstrong . In 2012 we are going back go the North Shore and for a second time Elliot Lake will be the host of the 7th Annual All Star Classic, on Saturday August the 11th ( one day prior to Roger’s 65th birthday) . It will follow the approximate same procedure as the previous six .
Now in 2013 for the 8th Annual All Star Classic which returns to Sudbury with possible locations of Lorne Brady Memorial Park in Garson or Capreol , the format will most likely have a dramatic change . It will be held at that time in a two day format that of Friday August 16th and Saturday August 17th . At that time we will be looking for four all star teams : one from the North Shore and the Rick McDonald Memorial Fastball League-the original two plus now the addition of the North Bay/Huntsville which could include Val Gagne and the Manitoulin All Star team . Each team would contribute $600 from their league coffers which would help pay for the officiating crew , the use of the field and the balls . There would of course be at least one umpire from each league participating in the the officiating of the nine games to be played in two days (6 round robin games ,two semi finals and one championship final) . After all the costs there would be a purse of $1500 for the winning team including of course a banner . Sometime on Saturday there would be individual competitions and we would meet Saturday night for a together at a location yet to be determined . Only one field would be used on Friday but Saturday we go to two fields in order to get that period of time for individual competitions and finish early for the together afterwards .
Our record after 6 years of all star competition is 4 wins ,one tie and one loss ..
As you can well see , the next two years for the all star classic look promising and exciting . I may in the coming weeks have two more exciting bits of news , one concerning a new format for the Northern Ontario “Shamou Shoot Out “ tournament and maybe the possibility of our league hosting a men’s Ontario Championship in 2012 .
