The Circle Tap Fastpitch team traveled to Fargo, ND over the weekend for
the Holm Classic and came away with a 4-2 mark(18-15 overall). The
weather was hot hot hot and very draining for all. Thanks to Paul Lybeck
and the Millers for the hospitality and refreshments after the ball games
on Saturday. It was nice to get to know some of the guys from the Millers
that we've done battle with now 6 times this year(split 3-3). Thanks to
Brian Crouch for filling in again this weekend.

CT got things going in the 2nd as Matt Bramwell picked up a base hit and
Brian Crouch picked up a two out hit. Jamie Knudson reached on an error
driving in a run. Tom Crouch would later pick up a base hit and knock in
two more for a 3-0 lead. CT would add 3 more in the 5th as Kyle Magnusson
led off with a base hit, Todd Malnory reached on an error, Bramwell
singled loading the bases, followed by a Darren Derricks 2RBI double and a
Brian Couch RBI ground out. Villard would make it a 6-3 game in the 6th
on a base hit, walk and 3 run HR. Tom Crouch 2x4, Jeff Wartman 2x4, Brian
Crouch 2x4.

The Tappers exploded for 6 first inning runs as Jess Ellestad led off the
game with a home run followed by a Kyle Magnusson home run, with one out
Matt Bramwell doubled, Tom Crouch walked, Jeff Wartman then followed with
a 3 run shot, Todd Malnory doubled, Darren Derricks singled and Jamie
Knudson picked up an RBI base hit. The Sox hit a pair of solo HR's in the
4th to make it a 6-2 game but in the bottom half CT tacked on 3 more as
Ellestad led off with a base hit followed by a one out base hit by Chris
Delarwelle a two RBI double by Bramwell and an RBI base hit by Tom Crouch.

This game turned out to be an absolute slugfest as you can tell. MinnDak
came up in the 1st and led off with consecutive hits by Lucas Goring, Greg
Cascaes and an RBI single by Jon Tschida, followed by a 3 run bomb by Tony
Kunka. CT would come back in the bottom half as Jess Ellestad led off
with a base hit and a one out bomb by Delarwelle, Jeff Wartman later
knocked in Tom Crouch to make it a 4-3 game. The Millers would tack on
another 4 in the 2nd on RBI base hits by Tschida, Kunka, and a 2RBI double
by Roman Foore all with two out. MinnDak added another in the 4th for a
9-3 lead. CT came back with one in the bottom half as Tom Crouch singled
and later scored on an error. CT would make it a 9-5 game in the 5th on
another bomb by Delarwelle. MinnDak added another in the top of the sixth
for a 10-5 advantage. In the bottom of the sixth CT exploded for 4 more
on hits by Brian Crouch, Delarwelle, and Bramwell mixed in with a pair of
walks making it a 10-9 game. MinnDak came back in the top of the 7th with
4 more on hits by Brekke, Tschida, and another Kunka HR.

CT grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the 1st as Jess Ellestad led off with a
base hit and was knocked in by a Chris Delarwelle base hit. The game
would remain 1-0 until the 4th when Darren Derricks led off with a walk,
Jamie Knudson singled, Ellestad walked, Kyle Magnusson hit a 2RBI double,
Ellestad would later score on a wild pitch to make it a 4-0 game. CT
added another in the 5th as Derricks led off with a base hit and would
later score on a ground out by Magnusson. CT tacked on two more in the
6th on Doubles by Tom Crouch, Todd Malnory and a base hit by Jamie
Knudson.

CT needed to beat MinnDak two times to claim the title. In the first game
the Millers would grab a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd. CT would even
the game at 2 in the 3rd as Jamie Knudson led off with walk and Kyle
Magusson hit a two run shot. The Millers would reclaim the lead in the
4th on a Jason Wandler home run. It would remain 3-2 until the 7th when
CT came up with three runs as Darren Derricks led off with a double, Jess
Ellestad picked up an RBI base hit and Chris Delarwelle would hit a two
run two out home run.

The Millers started off hot again in this one as Lucas Goring, Greg
Cascaes and Jon Tschida each had hits, Goring scored on a passed ball and
Roman Foore hit a two run base hit. CT would make it a 3-1 game in the
bottom half as Ellestad led off with a base hit and would later score on a
fly out. MinnDak scored another 3 in the 2nd as Goring and Cascaes again
singled, Wandler and Zach Goring had RBIs. MinnDak made it 7-1 in the 5th
as Lucas Goring knocked in Zach Goring. CT would answer in the bottom
half as Darren Derricks doubled and scored on an Ellestad fielder's
choice. This game was frustrating as we put the ball in play and hit it
hard but a tremendous defense(felt like there were 14 fielder's out there)
kept us off the bases and turned 3 double plays. Derricks 2x2 2B HBP, Tom
Crouch 2x2
