Important note: This clinic will not fulfill the requirement that every BC umpire is to attend a Softball BC umpire clinic every year.
ASA District 15 UIC and good friend of Softball BC, Bill Silves, has extended an invitation to all of our umpires that would care to attend their upcoming clinic in Kent, WA. Wild Bill, as he is known around the world, will also be an instructor.
These dates do not conflict with any of Softball BC's dates. Our own Director of Umpires, Brian Van Os as well as the ASA Supervisor of Umpires, Kevin Ryan will both be instructing. Long time friend, ASA Western Deputy Supervisor and Canada Cup umpire, Malcolm Boyles will also be instruction.
We have always had a great working relationship with ASA Seattle Metro, their UIC and Canada Cup extremely regular Lori Bish as well as long time Canada Cup umpire Brenda Terpstra. Many ASA umpires from Mount Vernon as well as Seattle-Metro have worked at Softball City on a regular basis.
However, the caliber of instruction at this event will be as good as it gets and those aspiring to advance should consider attending. It is a substantial distance and cost, however if you carpool and cram into the host hotel I guarantee this will be an event worth attending. You will also get to meet many other ASA umpires in the Blue Family that we may one day host here in BC through our exchange programs.
