Softball has a rich history in the Maritimes, there have been numerous provincial and regional leagues that have operated over the past 35 years. The Marit...imes have seen 2 National Champions, The 1980 Brookfield Elks won in Saskatoon, and the Halifax Jaguars won the Senior Nationals in 1998 in St. Croix, Nova Scotia. Recently the Charlottetown Fawcetts' finished runner up to the Kitchner Riversharks in 2010.
The Maritime Fastpitch League enters this summer with 6 teams. 2 new teams enter the fold, the East Hants Mastadons who will play out of Shubenacadie and Moncton. The Murphy's Fish and Chip Jrs. who were Maritime League and Canadian Junior Champions will take a one year absence from the league. The MFL has 3 teams from Nova Scotia (Halifax, East Hants, Antigonish) 2 from New Brunswick (Fredericton and Moncton) and 1 from Prince Edward Island (Charlottetown).See more
