ISC appoints new Regional Commissioner for Canada East
For immediate release
April 20, 2012 - The International Softball Congress is pleased to announce the appointment of Kyle Smith, of Hickson, Ontario, as Regional Commissioner for Canada East.
"Kyle is already very active on the men's fastball circuit in Ontario and we're very happy to extend his involvement with the ISC beyond the broadcast booth," said ISC Executive Director Ken Hackmeister, adding that Kyle already works closely with ISC VP Operations Blair Setford and ISC VP Communications Joe Todd.
Smith, 29, brings a youthful presence to the ISC, along with his technical skills and will focus on further developments with ISC TV. "We want to continuously improve the broadcasts and move with technology over time," he says.
A graduate of the Radio Broadcasting program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Smith is a true student of the game and can often be found in ballparks across southwestern Ontario, whether it be umpiring or just spectating as a fan. Already one of the lead broadcasters for the ISC TV program, Smith will continue his involvement with streaming audio from tournaments on Ballpark Radio throughout the year, leading up to the ISC World Tournament in August.
Kyle and his fiance Candice currently reside in Hickson, just outside Woodstock. Kyle is a member of the Innerkip and Woodstock umpires associations and umpires in both the Tri-County Fastball League and the South Perth Men's Fastball League.
