The 2006 Masters / Grand Masters fastball season is almost here.

This year offers something different as the Ontario Amateur Softball Association ( OASA ) and the Canadian Masters
Fastball Association ( CMFA ) have both added a Men's Grand Masters Division for the very first time.

The grand masters division will allow players 45 and over a chance to compete for Ontario & Canadian Championships with players their own age and caliber. Within any division there are always teams of various levels of talent but for the most part the grand masters division should be competitive but without any dominating pitchers. This new division should allow leagues to form a grand masters team from within their own league.

The Grand Masters age eligibility guidelines for both the Ontario & Canadian Championship is 45 years of age in the year of the event, so in theory a pitcher or position player could actually be 44 years old as long as he turns 45 years old before the end of 2006.
