QUENTIN SEELEY REMAX FASTBALL LEAGUE

FIRST NATION SEMINOLES HAND NORTH STARS FIRST LOSS

Sooner or later it had to come and last evening in Garson , the First Nation Seminoles edged the North Stars 3-2 .It was quite a pitchers duel between Jonathan Contin of the Seminoles and second year Lanny Fichette of the North Stars . The Seminoles scored 2 in the 4th frame and followed that up with a single in the very next inning while the North Stars scored singles in the 4th and 6th frame . Jonathan Contin for the Seminoles went the distance for his best performance yet in 2012 giving up but two hits , two runs (only one earned), did not issue a single base on ball while striking out a season best of 13 .His counterpart Lanny Fichette also went all the way giving up 5 hits , three runs (all earned) and issuing but One base on ball . Sid Nebionquit led the Seminoles going 2 for 4 while John Miners and Jesse St Cyr hit 1 for 3 in a losing cause .

In the earlier game played at 7 PM , the Hounds of Garson edged the Dog House 6-4 .The Dogs are improving each game and the final score indicates this . John Ainslie went al;l the way for the winners scattering 4 hits while giving up 4 runs (one unearned) , not issuing a single walk and striking out a season high 7 batters . Pat Brennan Sr started for the Dog House and was relieved by Al Guenette in the 6th inning .Both combined to give up 6 runs ( 4 unearned) while striking out 7 and not issuing a single base on balls .

Parsons led the Hounds going 2 for 3 (solo home run) while J.P. Moisan hit 2 for 4 in a losing cause for the Dog House .

It would seem that our fastball players were getting older but in the past two years the youth are getting very involved in all four team which bodes well for the future of the Quentin Seeley Remax fastball league.

AWARD WINNERS FOR THE WEEK JUNE 11TH TO THE 13TH

A] Toppers Pizza offensive player is Jonathan Contin pitcher of the Seminoles going 4 for 6 and taking over as league’s top hitter .

Toppers Pizza defensive player is also Jonathan Contin who in his last game pitched a two hitter , gave up but one earned run and fanned 13 batters.

Quire a week Jonathan offensively and defensively !

B] Pro Am Sportswear sportsmanship award of the week goes to Johnny Kagagin infielder of the Seminoles and Ed Brennan of the Dog House

C] Kingsporswear play of the week goes to Chad St Cyr of the North Stars with his fine grab at first base to prevent any runs.

D] Dog House player of the week goes to Curt Brown of the Dog House for his fine defensive prowess and strong at the plate presence ; also in this category we’ve got also from the Dog House Angelo Anselmo with fine outfield playing .

Gentlemen good week of fastball ! Keep it up ! Don’t forget it’s a team game !

ALL ONTARIO B/C INTERMEDIATE MEN’S FASTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

For the first time in more than 25 years Greater Sudbury is hosting this prestigious tournament . It will be held at the Terry Fox Sports Complex on Saturday August the 19th and 20th (Saturday/Sunday) .Following the opening two games there will be a special opening ceremonies .At the moment the number of committed entrants stands at 10 . The ten are : host city Sudbury North Stars , Pickering I , Pickering II . Frankford ,Fitzroy Harbor , Toange , Bracebridge , Napean , Parry Island and North Bay . If any more teams are added , we may have to start on Friday the 18th .This weekend is the deadline for entrants . Contack the registrar Mary Myers at 1-905-727-5139 ASAP .
