MinnDak Millers Tie for 3rd at Summit Park Shootout

  In their final tournament before, post-season play, the MinnDak Millers traveled to Foxboro, Wisconsin for the inaugural Summit Park Shootout, tying for third.

Saturday

  MinnDak opened the weekend against the Kegel Black Knights and held on for a 5-4 win.

  The Millers jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning.

  With two outs, John Tschida was hit by a pitch.  Tony Kunka drew a walk and Roman Foore hit a home run.

  Kegel closed the gap in the second on a two-run homer by BJ Boom.

  Gregg Cascaes led off the third with a walk, advanced to second on John Tschida’s sacrifice bunt but reached on an error and moved Cascaes to third.  Cascaes would then score on a wild pitch.

  Jeff Ellsworth led off Kegel’s half of the third with a home run to make the score 4-3.

  MinnDak added another run in the fifth when Lucas Goring had a leadoff, bunt single and advanced to third on a two-base throwing error on the play.

  Two batters later, with two outs, Goring scored on Tony Kunka’s double.

  Kegel added another run in the sixth.  Kegel got their leadoff hitter on in the seventh but catcher Scooter Lange picked him off.

  In their next game, MinnDak was unable to get the bats going against Townline, mustering only one hit, a single by Lucas Goring in the third.

  Townline managed four home runs in the game, including three in a five-run third inning.

  With the pairings for Sunday determined before the game began and night fall setting fast upon the field, which had no lights, MinnDak and Albaugh, Inc. decided to play a few innings of exhibition ball for the locals who were in attendance.

  The Millers jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Albaugh after the first inning but were unable to push another run across the plate, despite having base runners in four of the remaining six innings.

  Gregg Cascaes led off the MinnDak first with a  walk and advanced to second on Zach Goring’s bunt.

  John Tschida drove Cascaes in with a double.  Tschida would score two batters later on Roman Foore’s single.

  Albaugh moved the ball for the remainder of the game, while MinnDak was unable to come up with a hit with guys on base.

  MinnDak is off this coming weekend before traveling to South Bend, Indiana for the ASA Major National Championship next weekend, followed by the ISC World Tournament in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
