CT Dukes Win Angels Tournament

The Circle Tap Dukes posted a 4-1 record (26-4 overall) over the weekend
in claiming the Angels Tournament held in Hollywood and New Germany, MN.
Excellent pitching and timely hitting keyed the road to the championship.
I haven't been to a tournament like this in quite some time. There was a
town festival going on in the back ground which drew strong crowds to the
ballpark. I'm pretty sure the parade on Sunday lasted about 2 hours.
There were six teams in this tournament, each advancing to Sunday.

Ryan Sinclair led off the game with a base hit and stole 2nd moved to 3rd
and took home on a wild pitch. The game remained 1-0 until the 4th when
Jon Zipperer drew a walked and scored on a Brett Kadlec double. Kadlec
scored on a Sinclair base hit. Rooters pushed one across in the bottom
half to make it 3-1. In the 6th Bryan Hansen reached base on an error and
scored on a Josh Johnson two run bomb to make it 5-1. The Dukes scored
six times in the 7th on RBI singles by Jim Corbett, Zipperer two RBI
triple Kadlec RBI single, Hansen RBI single.

This was a good old fashioned pitchers duel. The ballgame was scoreless
until the bottom of the 6th when Tyler Brunning picked up a one out base
hit and Zach Warne hit a two out triple to the wall to knock him in.

There was a lot of buzz about this game in the town. The game started
right after the fireworks so a real good crowd saw two of the top pitchers
in the world do battle. The game was scoreless until the top half of the
4th when German Sacks picked up a base hit, followed by a Nick Needham.
With two out a costly error allowed two runs to score to make it a 2-0
ballgame. The Dukes tacked on two more in the 6th as Nick Needham reached
on an error, Chris Delorit reached on an error and Bryan Hansen knocked
them in. CT added one in the 7th on a RBI base hit by German Sacks.
Jeremy Manley threw a dandy to say the least.

CT struck in the 1st as Josh Johnson hit a one out triple and scored on a
wild pitch. In the 3rd Ryan Sinclair doubled scored as Josh Johnson
reached on an error. The Dukes scored in the 5th as Johnson singled stole
2nd moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a sac fly by German
Sacks.

This was a scoreless ball game until the bottom of the 4th when BJ Gullick
reached on an infield single was sacrified to 2nd moved to 3rd on a wild
pitch and scored on a wild pitch. The Dukes came back and took a 2-1 lead
in the top of the 6th as Nick Needham singled, Jeremy Manley sacrificed
him to 2nd, Chris Delorit followed with an RBI base hit and Jim Corbett
picked up an RBI base hit. Kegel came back to tie it in the bottom of
the 6th on a Gullick home run. The Dukes came right back in the top of
the 7th. Josh Johnson singled, Kyle Magnusson singled along with Needham,
Manley and Delorit making the score 5-2. Kegel made it a 5-3 game in the
bottom of the 7th on a solo home run but that is where it ended.

The Dukes are off until the ASA National Championships in Ashland, Ohio
