Andrew Phibbs pitched a seven-inning perfect game with 17 strikeouts to lead the Niagara (Ont.) Snappers to a 6-0 victory over the Appleton (Wis.) Bar Buzz on Saturday in the ISC World Tournament in Midland.
Phibbs struck out 17 of the 21 batters he faced, with the other four outs coming by groundouts.
Pete Dobbin scored three times, including once on a home run. Adam Dearborn and Kevin Newhouse also hit home runs for the Snappers.
Michael Jamison took the loss for the Buzz, allowing eight hits and three walks in six innings.
Davenport (Iowa) Quad City Sox 10, Wyevale (Ont.) Tribe 0
Paul Algar tossed a five-inning no-hitter, striking out eight to lead the Sox to the mercy-rule victory.
Chad Seeman tallied two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for Quad City. Dennis Sims added a double and two RBIs and Kyle Chapman had a double and an RBI for the Sox.
Kitchener (Ont.) Cubs 9, Winterset (Iowa) A's 3
Brad Thompson was 3-for-3 with two runs and Bobby Gillow and Allen Phibbs each had a home run and two RBIs to lead the Cubs. Scott Wager struck out 11 in seven innings for the victory.
Darren Strang, Shane McDaniel and Dirk Sorenson each hit solo homers for the A's.
Harriston (Ont.)
Wellington Sox 5, Aurora (Ill.) Dolan & Murphy 4
Trevor Seip had two RBIs, Jim Culling hit a solo homer and Jeremy Creeden had two hits and an RBI to lead the Sox. Todd Uhrig struck out four in two innings of relief for the win for Wellington, which broke a tie with three runs in the top of the sixth.
Valdimar Terkelsen, T.J. Chase, Robert Reder, and Chris Gonzales each had multiple-hit games for Dolan & Murphy.
Alviston (Ont.)
Indians 1, Pueblo (Colo.) Bandits 0
Ben Hodgins hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Brad Young, to give the Indians a walkoff win. Tom Berube (five innings) and Ryan Swift (two innings) combined for a seven-hitter for the Indians, striking out 12 between them.
Max Montoya struck out eight and gave up three hits in 6 2-3 innings in the loss for Pueblo. Cliff Wisdon and Montoya each had two hits for the Bandits.
Muscoutah (Ill.) Pete's Blues 2, Parry Island (Ont.) Hawks 0
Sisco Sabate struck out 14 and tossed a seven-inning no-hitter for Pete's Blues. He allowed just one walk.
Sabate also starred at the plate, adding two hits, including a solo homer. Daniel Alstat also added a solo homer for Pete's Blues.
Frank Cox struck out seven in five innings, allowing three hits and one run to take the loss for the Hawks.
