GARSON HOUNDS CLINCH 1ST PLACE SEED
It took till the final day of play but the Hounds clinched the first place seed with a 8-1 victory over the Sudbury North Stars . In the opening game of the evening , the North Stars dumped the 4th seed Seminoles 12-6 to set the stage for the night cap game . In his best outing of the season and feeling the pressure for a team he played for in 2-11 , John Ainsley came up with a terrific effort . In five inning of play he faced 19 batters , 4 over the limit and giving up but 1 run on 3 hits while fanning 9 batters . Brad Matheson , this year’s top pitcher suffered the loss .Most of the damage came in the first inning when the Hounds first three batters reached home . The stage is set for Thursday night in Garson for the start of the page playoff . At 7 PM the 4th seed First Nation Seminoles take on the 3rd seed Dog House Sports bar . At 9 PM it’s the 2nd seed Sudbury North Stars taking on the 1st place Garson Hounds . Both these games will be played on Thursday August the 30th .These are quarter final games .On Thursday September the 6th will be the semi final when the loser of 1 seed vs. 2 seed takes on the winner of the first quarter final match . The league championship final goes on Monday September the 10th ..Both the semi and final will be played at 8 PM . There are still tournaments to be played :1 . This coming Labor Day weekend( August 31st to September the 2nd) it’s the 28th annual Wolds Senior Fastball Championship being played in North Bay at five sites . 2. The 5th Annual Parry Island Hawks fastball championships at Parry Island from September the 14th to the 16th . The entry free is $400 and is to be paid on or before the 14th of September . All teams are guaranteed of three games with a first place award of $1500 guaranteed . Second prize will depend on the number of teams .
