Niagara Falls Playoffs round 2

From Wednesday night, Game 1 of the Second round of Niagara Falls League Playoffs would start with a bang as the Fury and Can-Am combine 17 runs and 15 hits, including eight extra base hits.

The Fury would start out quick with 3 runs in the 1st inning on a 2 run homerun by Adam Dearborn and then pinch runner Daibidh Millman would steal third and take home on a passed ball.

Can-Am would respond with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and then tack on another 3 runs in the 2nd, highlighted by a Dan Ventura homerun.

In the top half of the 3rd inning the Fury would score 2 runs to erase the deficit on a single by Phil John, an RBI single by Scott Wagar, and an RBI double by Tom Watkinson.

Can-Am would quickly regain their lead in the 3rd on a leadoff walk followed by a 2-run homerun by Devon Abbey. They’d add another run in the 5th to stake a 8-5 lead.

In the top of the 7th Phil John lead off with a single, Dearborn walked. Wagar then drove in the first run with a single to left field. After a sac bunt by Mark Korten, Fury 1st baseman Tom Watkinson would drive a triple to the gap driving in 2 runs and tying the game. With the runner on third Can-Am pitcher Brian Belisle struck out the next batter for the second out of the inning. Left fielder Marcel Bilodeau sent a chopper to short and reached base on an errant throw allowing Watkinson to score the go ahead run.

In the bottom of the 7th Wagar would retire the Can-Am batters in order.

Wagar recorded the win for Niagara Fury allowing 7 earned runs over seven innings. He struck out eight, walked five and surrendered five hits.

Brian Belisle took the loss giving up 9 runs on 10 hits. He struck out 8 and walked 4 batters.
