Playoff Round 2: Niagara Fury down Can-Am 6-5 to clinch series
 
Niagara Fury took a 1-0 series lead into Ker Park on Wednesday night facing Can-Am in their best of 3 playoff.
 
Butch Provost would take the ball for the Fury and Rich Vassos for Can-Am.
 
The Fury would strike first. Phil John lead the game off with a double and Rob Greatrix followed with a single. With runners on 1st and 3rd Greatrix would get caught in a rundown. Can-Am conceded the run scoring from 3rd for the out at 1st. Adam Dearborn then hit a solo shot staking the Fury to a 2-0 lead.
 
The Fury would score again in the 2nd inning when Mark Korten would step in for a pinch hit solo HR.
 
Can-Am would get themselves on the board in the 3rd; Dan Edholm would lead off with a single and then be driven home when Dan Ventura doubled.
 
In the bottom of the 4th inning, Marcel Bilodeau lead off for the Fury with a pinch hit single and stolen base followed by a single from Joe MacMaster. Rob Greatrix then cleared the bases with a triple and was driven home by Dearborn.
 
With the Fury lead at 6-1 Can-Am would start their comeback in the 6th. Dave Ventura singled and was followed by a single by Dan Deumo. A fielding error would allow Ventura to score on the play.  
 
The Fury bats went in order in the bottom of the 6th and Can-Am continued to put up runs in the 7th. Edholm would lead off and reach base on an error. A single with an error would bring Edholm around to score. Darrin Newson singled to bring home another run and would be brought home on another Can-Am single. With the score 6-5 and 2 outs with a runner on the Fury would walk the bases loaded.  Provost would induce a ground ball to shortstop to end the game.
 
Butch Provost got the win for Niagara Fury allowing five runs over seven innings. Provost struck out five, walked five and gave up 10 hits. Richard Vassos took the loss for Can-Am with relief from Brian Belisle.
 
The Fury move on to the final, awaiting  the winner of the Snappers – Tazco series which currently sits at 1-0 Snappers with the next game Thursday September 13 at 7:30pm (Ker Park).
