Week 1
September 15th
uOttawa v. uWindsor
The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees started off their season with a bang as they dominated on offense and mercied Windsor after only five innings. In the second half of the double-header the Gee-Gees were not so lucky with the sticks and this time Windsor was able to stay ahead and win.
September 16th
uOttawa v. Western
Unfortunately for the Gee-Gees the day did not start out as well as the previous one had. The Mustangs were able to find gaps on offense that the Gee-Gees were unable to, and although a great game was thrown by pitcher Baylie Gigolyk the Mustangs overcame the Gee-Gees for the win. In the second game of the day, pitcher Jean Cardona was able to keep the Western hitters at bay for most of the game, however with the silence of the Gee-Gees bats it proved difficult to overcome the Mustangs and they took the second game of the day at 2-0.
Week 2
September 22nd
uOttawa v. Waterloo
In the first half of the double header, the Gee-Gees’ bats finally started to come alive and they were able to overtake Waterloo for the win. In the second game, Ottawa fought hard against their competition but unfortunately came up short and so split with Waterloo.
September 23rd
uOttawa v. Laurier
Ottawa’s bats busted out on Sunday to get a healthy lead on Laurier early in the game and they were able to add runs to the score in each inning played. By the middle of the game Laurier was able to catch up to the Ottawa pitching and came back with some runs of their own. However with great Ottawa defence, the Gee-Gees were able to hang on for the win. In the second game again the Gee-Gees bats were on fire, with hits going up and down the order. Again Laurier was able to fight back with a few runs, though they did not prove to be enough as Ottawa took the second game of the day and swept Laurier. This made the uOttawa Gee-Gees 3-1 for the weekend.
